Two women farm workers were killed and eight others injured when a carrot-laden pick-up jeep in which they were travelling turned turtle near Kakkuchi, some 30 KMs from here today.
Ten persons, inlcuding six women, were on their way for work at Adacholai when the driver swerved the vehicle to avoid a dog and hit a road side tree resulting in it capsizing, police said.
Two women, aged 45 and 42, died in the accident.
Police, along with the help of public and Fire and Rescue service personnel, rescued eight persons, who sustained serious injuries and sent them to government hospital here.
