The Winter Session of Maharashtra Legislature which commenced here on December 7 was prorogued this evening.
The Budget session will commence from March 9.
State Legislative Assembly Speaker Haribhau Bagde read out a communication from Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao proroguing the Winter Session and announced that the Budget session will commence from March 9 next year in Mumbai.

In the Legislative Council, Chairman Ramraje Naik Nimbalkar read out the communication while proroguing the Council.
The Speaker in his concluding remarks said that the best average attendance of the members in the House was 85 per cent and lowest 61 per cent.
The Assembly worked in 83 hours and about 1.20 hours was lost due to absence of Ministers and 14.49 hours due to disruptions, he said.

Meanwhile, the Legislative Council witnessed uproarious scenes over Opposition's demand of relief package for farmers after which the House was adjourned for six times.
Amid the din, Chairperson Ramraoraje Nimbalkar announced that the Budget session will commence from March 9, 2016, in Mumbai.
As soon as the session began, Sunil Tatkare of NCP said the Central government has given compensation package to other states but excluded Maharashtra, which is "shocking" for the state.
He said the state government should announce complete loan waiver package for farmers immediately.
Manikrao Thakre of Congress also echoed the sentiment and soon opposition members started raising anti-government slogans and trooped towards the Well of the House.
Amid the uproar, the House was adjourned for six times in a row without any business being transacted.
Towards the end, when the House reassembled again, opposition members continued to stall the proceedings but chairperson Nimbalkar asked to Leader of the House Eknath Khadse to read out his speech.
Even when Khadse began his speech, sloganeering continued after which Nimbalkar prorogued the session.
