A woman has lodged a complaint against a police officer in Jalpaiguri district, accusing him of raping her after issuing life threats, police said today.
The accused, a sub-inspector with Jalpaiguri Police, repeatedly raped her for the last few months months at his residence in Congress Para, according to the FIR lodged at Jalpaiguri woman police station yesterday.
"The woman, in her early 20s, is a domestic help in the accused officer's brother-in-law's house. In the absence of the SI's wife, he used to call her at his residence and rape her, warning of dire consequences if she spoke about it," a senior police officer said.
The accused officer is at large, and search is on to trace him, he said.
