Woman crushed to death by elephant in Bengal

A woman was crushed to death by an elephant in Nityanandapur jungle in West Bengal's Bankura district today.

Bankura District Forest Officer, Pinaki Mitra said the 60-year-old woman was collecting kendu leaves in forest this noon when she was attacked by the elephant.

The woman was alone during the attack and was spotted later by villagers, who reported the death to the Beliator forest beat office, Mitra said.
