Apparently frustrated over betrayal by her paramour, a woman set his house aflame at Radhadeipur in Odisha's Jajpur district, police said today.

The lady also allegedly hurled three hand grenades at the house causing explosion leading to property worth over Rupees one lakh reduced to ashes, police said.

The 35-year-old married woman, a mother of two, of Bamphu village under Dharmasala police station in the district had reportedly affairs with a 30 year-old bachelor of nearby Radhadeipur village since last one year.

Though the incident occurred on Friday night, it came to light last night after Arindra Sethy, father of the man Pradipta Sethy, filed an FIR against the accused woman.

The woman was arrested under Sections 436 of IPC, 9(B) of Indian Explosives Act and 3 SC/ST Act on the basis of the FIR and forwarded to court which rejected her bail application and remanded in judicial custody.

Pradipta, who worked in a private firm in Chennai, had affairs with the woman promising her marriage and finally backtracked probably after coming to know about her present status.

"Pradipta had relations with her for past one year on the promise of marriage but all of a sudden he disappeared from the village," Ranjit Keshari Sahu, inspector-in-charge of Barachana police station said.

Two accomplices, who had helped the woman to execute the crime, were absconding.
