Woman kidnaps baby girl from hospital

A six-day-old baby girl was today allegedly kidnapped by a woman from a state-run hospital here, police said.

The woman, posing as a staff member at the maternity hospital, took the baby from her mother on the pretext of getting her vaccinated and escaped, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Sultanbazar Division) M Chetana told PTI.

The mother alerted police when she did not return.

"We have verified the CCTV footage at the hospital and the woman is seen taking the baby outside," the ACP said, adding, teams have been formed to trace her.

As per the footage, the woman is seen boarding a bus to Bidar district in Karnataka, she added.
