Uttarakhand Governor Aziz Qureshi today sought a report from state government and police by tomorrow over the alleged thrashing of a woman member of district panchayat.
Terming the incident "shameful and sad", the governor directed the director general of police and Chief Secretary to submit a detailed report of the incident by tomorrow evening, an official statement said.
He was yesterday informed by leader of Opposition Ajay Bhatt that a woman member of district panchayat was allegedly beaten up by some persons owing allegiance to Congress party, the statement said.
