Youth gets 10 yrs RI for raping minor

A 28-year-old man was today sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment by a Mahila court here for raping a minor girl in 2013.

Mahila court judge Flora convicted and sentenced Selvin, a construction worker, and also imposed a fine of Rs 8,000.

According to prosecution, Selvin of Sattankulam had befriended the 15-year-old girl. Promising to marry her, he had raped her.

On a complaint from the girl's parents, police arrested Selvin and prosecuted him.
