Zinc softens by 0.5% on global cues

Speculators trimmed positions, tracking a weak global trend

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Zinc futures traded 0.46% lower at Rs 150.80 per kg today after speculators trimmed positions, tracking a weak global trend.

Zinc for delivery in May declined by 70 paise, or 0.46%, to Rs 150.80 per kg at the Multi Commodity Exchange. It clocked business turnover of 253 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in the June contracts softened by 65 paise, or 0.43%, to Rs 151.80 per kg in nine lots.

Analysts said the weakness in zinc at futures trade was mostly attributed to a weak trend in copper and other base metals in the global markets as investors investors await jobs figures from the US and trade data from China, the world's largest users of the metal.
