No sooner did chairman R V Shahi began addressing the shareholders than over 100 workers of BSES Sthaniya Lokadhikar Samiti approached the dais and started shouting slogans against the company's management for 15 minutes.
This was followed by a small speech by Pradeep Mayekar, general secretary of the union.
The workers were agitating over the company's policy on recruiting workers from outside Maharashtra.
Addressing shareholders Mayekar said the management had been promising to look into the recruitment policy.
In April this year, BSES recruited 60 traineesof which only three were from Maharashtra.
In a circular distributed to shareholders, the union said even though there are enough qualified people in Maharashtra, the company is opting to employ non-Maharashtrians.
