Usman Khawaja top scored with 145 to help give Australia a healthy 124-run first innings lead over South Africa on the third day of the third day-night Test in Adelaide today.
     The Australians were dismissed for 383 at tea, with the last four wickets adding 100 runs to put the home side in command.
     Khawaja's 308-ball vigil finally came to an end 30 minutes into the third day when he was trapped leg before wicket by Vernon Philander.
     The unflappable left-hander occupied the crease for 466 minutes after he was forced to hurriedly open the innings after a miscalculation over David Warner's time off the field for injury treatment when the Proteas declared.
     Khawaja left the field to a standing ovation from the Adelaide Oval crowd following his second-highest Test score, amassed over three days, ranking only below his 174 against New Zealand in Brisbane last year.

South Africa fought to stay alive after losing two key wickets in the third day-night Test at the Adelaide Oval today.
     Dean Elgar and Hashim Amla were dismissed as the Proteas chipped away at the home side's 124-run lead after a masterful century from Usman Khawaja propelled the Aussies to 383.
     At the dinner break on the third day, South Africa were 100 for two and 24 runs in arrears of Australia.
     Opener Stephen Cook was unbeaten on 43 with JP Duminy not oyt on five.
     Steamed-up Mitchell Starc gave Australia a flying start in his opening over when he had Elgar snapped up by Steve Smith at second slip for a duck.
     Amla was dropped by debutant Matt Renshaw off Starc on 13 before he fell to Josh Hazlewood 30 minutes before the break.
     Amla was caught behind but sought a review which detected an edge off his bat and he was on his way for 45 off 80 balls.
     The experienced right-hander has yet to score a half-century in the series.

There were multiple fatalities in a boating accident in New Zealand today, police said, but they were unable to immediately confirm the death toll.
	"A number of people have died after a boat got into difficulty in Kaipara Harbour this afternoon," police said in a statement.
	"At least six other people have been rescued and are receiving medical treatment."
	Local media said 11 people were believed to be in the water after a chartered fishing boat overturned near a bar at the entrance to the harbour north of Auckland city.
	The vessel, called The Francie, is listed as a 12-metre long boat that can carry a maximum of 22 people.
	Police said four aircraft and the coastguard were searching for people in the water.

Australia is seeking the extradition of its most wanted Islamic State terror suspect who was thought to be dead but has been caught alive by Turkey, the government said today.
	The announcement followed a New York Times report that so-called Islamic State group operative Neil Prakash had been caught by Turkish forces several weeks ago as he tried to enter their country from Syria.
	"An individual we believe to be Neil Prakash has been arrested and detained in Turkey," a government spokesperson said in a statement.
	"Prakash is subject to a formal extradition request from Australia."
	Prakash, a Fijian-Indian and Cambodian descent, has been a prominent member of Islamic State in Iraq. He was a senior recruiter for Islamic State and has been linked to terror plots to kill Australians.

Pakistan carved into the New Zealand line up with three wickets and brought Jeet Raval's charmed run to an end on the second morning of the second Test in Hamilton on Saturday.
     At lunch, New Zealand were 170-5 with Colin de Grandhomme on 37 and BJ Watling on 10.
     Raval, who compiled his second half century in only his third Test innings, was out for 55 when the third chance he nicked to first slip was firmly taken by Mohammad Rizwan.
     Raval had been dropped by Sami Aslam in the first over of the rain-abridged first day and again by the same fielder when on 40 on the second morning.
     Two blown chances was enough for captain Azhar Ali and there was no let off for Raval on the third edge after Rizwan was moved to the key catching position.
     Raval added 20 to his overnight score after New Zealand resumed the day at 77-2 and were able to progress without too much pressure.

A resolute BJ Watling kept New Zealand's first innings alive Saturday as Pakistan continued to pick off wickets on day two of the second Test in Hamilton.
     At tea, New Zealand were 266-8 with Watling on 45 after three hours in the middle and facing 119 deliveries. Matt Henry was not out 15 off 10 balls.
     Watling went to the crease with New Zealand in trouble at 119-5, having lost three for 29 runs in the morning session.
     The wicketkeeper with six centuries to his name patiently protected his end in partnerships of 51 with Colin de Grandhomme, 33 with Mitchell Santner and 36 with Tim Southee.

Mass marches to condemn horrific violence against women swept Latin America, after a series of brutal murders stoked outrage over a long-smoldering problem in the region.
	Tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets in Buenos Aires yesterday, the latest in a series of massive protests organized by a burgeoning movement against domestic violence and a culture of machismo.
	Marches were also held in Chile, Uruguay, Colombia, Venezuela and Guatemala, with another planned Saturday in Peru.
	"If any of you are going through what I was, please go to a loved one, a neighbor, anyone," said an online message from Chilean victim Nabila Riffo, 28, who lost both eyes when her ex-boyfriend attacked her in May.
