Smriti Irani is an Indian politician, former television actress, and a key leader in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She has earlier served as the Minister of Women and Child Development and Minister of Minority Affairs, and previously held the portfolio of Human Resource Development. Irani gained national prominence by defeating Rahul Gandhi in his home borough of Amethi in the 2019 general elections.
