Ashok Leyland bags export contract worth $ 200 mn

Ashok Leyland, the flagship company of the Hinduja Group, signed a contract worth $ 200 million (approximately Rs 1335 crore) with the government of Cote D’Ivoire in West Africa for supplying 3600 vehicles. The vehicles, which include trucks and buses, will be delivered over the next 12 months. This contract, which is being funded by EXIM Bank of India, is pending final clearance from respective governments.
 
Vinod Dasari, managing director, Ashok Leyland said, “This is the largest contract for this country with any firm in India, and also represents the largest such contract till date for the Company. We are proud to be partnering with the visionary government of Cote D’Ivoire, and look forward to building this as a base for further growth in West Africa. I also would like to acknowledge the tremendous support from EXIM Bank, Ministry of Commerce, and the Indian Embassy in bringing this large contract to fruition."
