More Covid deaths recorded in past 3 weeks than previous 39 weeks

There have been seven deaths in last 24 hours

Deaths among Covid-19 patients have surged in the last three weeks. A total of 40 Covid patients died since mid-May, which is more than the total number of deaths over the preceding 39 weeks, according to an analysis of data from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and updates from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. There were seven deaths reported on Wednesday. The WHO data is updated with a lag, the last update was on May 12.

 

There was one death in January, none in February and a couple reported in March. There was one more by May 12.
