The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police carried out a massive operation on June 19 that targeted drug dealers in over 100 locations across the national capital. The initiative, referred to as "Operation Kawach," aims to combat the harmful effects of drug addiction on children and youth. The Anti-Narcotics Task Force had previously arrested around 43 individuals involved in the supply of illegal alcohol and drugs to college and school students.

The crackdown demonstrates the administration’s commitment in preventing drug distribution in educational settings and safeguarding the health of young people.


Operation Kawach: Overview

During "Operation Kawach" in Delhi, officials reported that a total of 31 drug offenders and 12 bootleggers were arrested by the police. In order to combat drug abuse in the city, some 100 locations were raided as part of this operation.

The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and the Crime Branch from all districts made up a comprehensive force of 80 police teams to carry out a series of actions. According to the police, the ANTF conducted extensive on-the-ground assessments Collaborating with the Delhi Police and identified over 100 potential targets for simultaneous raids.


Operation Kawach: Raids

In the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, the raids were successfully carried out all over Delhi. According to reports, 31 drug offenders were detained in 30 NDPS cases and 12 bootleggers in six Excise Act cases.

The police said the operation resulted in the seizure of 957.5 grams of heroin, 57.884 kilograms of ganja, and 782 quarters of illegal liquor.

The reports added that Delhi Police had arrested 534 narco-offenders in 412 NDPS cases and recovered approximately 35 kilograms of heroin/smack, 15 kilograms of cocaine, 1,500 kilograms of ganja, 230 kilograms of opium, 10 kilograms of charas, and 20 kilograms of poppy, so far.
