Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday asked Indian industry to focus not just on scale but also on building stronger, more resilient, and better-governed enterprises as the country works towards the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Addressing an AIMA event here, Sitharaman said Indian industry needs to build institutions that combine scale with durability, higher quality, better governance and deeper technological capabilities.
"India today has the scale of market, the entrepreneurial energy and the institutional capacity to aim much higher. Execution will determine how successfully we convert these strengths into lasting national capability," she said.
The contribution of Indian management would be measured by the quality of enterprises and institutions being built today as the country moves toward Viksit Bharat by 2047, she noted.

Billionaire Chandru Lachmandas Raheja has divested his holding in Mindspace Business Parks REIT by selling a 1.49 per cent stake for Rs 500 crore through a bulk deal on the BSE.
After the stake sale, Mindspace Business Parks REIT were trading 0.18 per cent lower at Rs 504.05 a unit on Tuesday.
Raheja, Chairman of real estate major K Raheja Corp, sold 99,00,990 units, representing a 1.49 per cent unitholding in the Mumbai-based REIT.
The transaction was executed on Monday at an average price of Rs 505 per unit, taking the transaction value to Rs 499.99 crore, according to exchange data.
Details of the buyers of Mindspace Business Parks REIT's units could not be identified from the exchange data.
Raheja's latest transaction comes as the K Raheja Corp group continues to have a significant footprint in India's commercial real estate market, with brands such as Mindspace, Commerzone, Crossword Bookstores and Shoppers Stop.

Domestic steel prices have touched a four-year high due to costlier raw materials, especially coking coal, coupled with rise in post monsoon demand, according to market research firm BigMint.

Hot rolled coil (HRC) and CRC -- two of the most common types of flat steel products used globally -- are trading at Rs 64,000 per tonne and Rs 75,000 a tonne, respectively. Such levels were last seen in June 2022, BigMint data showed.
From August 1, prices of HRC and CRC have increased by Rs 6,000 per tonne and Rs 8,500 a tonne, respectively. HRC and CRC were at Rs 58,000/ tonne and Rs 66,500/tonne at the start of August.
The spike in prices is mainly due to rise in key raw materials coupled with an increase in demand, a BigMint analyst said.

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) is targeting 1 million "green vehicle" sales - spanning CNG, hybrid and EV - this financial year, helped by structural tailwinds such as rising crude prices and the introduction of automatic transmission in CNG variants.
The car market leader, under its Auto Green Mission, on Friday launched automatic S-CNG variants of its popular car models - Swift, Dzire and Baleno.

MSME fintech firm Progcap aims to raise up to USD 45 million (approximately Rs 425 crore) from share sales in FY28 to expand its lending business.
"We are planning a capital raise through equity dilution next financial year," Progcap co-founder Himanshu Chandra told PTI.
It would be through private placement of shares, and the quantum could be in the range of USD 40-45 million, depending on the valuation, he said.
"We have enough capital to take care of growth needs for the current financial year. We may look at dilution of equity next financial year," he said, adding that the dilution would be in the single digit.
The fintech firm, which obtained an NBFC licence in 2022, has been witnessing very high growth in MSME lending, especially wholesalers and retailers.
The fintech is currently present in 500 cities, Tier II, III and IV cities, with over 30,000 borrowers having an average ticket size of Rs 10 lakh.

Over 100 MSME players of the stainless steel sector have urged the government to reintroduce the quality control order, citing a surge in Chinese imports after the order was revoked to ease the sourcing of raw material for domestic manufacturing.
The steel ministry, through an order dated April 27, suspended the quality control order (QCO) that mandated the use of only BIS-certified items for various stainless steel products. The move was aimed at easing the compliance burden for local producers, especially micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
However, MSMEs of the stainless steel industry have raised concerns over the steep rise in imports of stainless products following the suspension of the QCO.
