Digital services company Jio Platforms has appointed Akash Ambani as managing director of the company ahead of its initial public offering, according to a regulatory filing.
Jio Platforms is expected to file draft papers for its Initial Public Offering (IPO) by the end of May or in June.  "Akash M Ambani...appointed as managing director of the company, for a period of 5 years with effect from April 9, 2026," the filing dated May 7 said.
Ambani has been on the board of Jio Platforms' telecom arm Reliance Jio Infocomm (RJIL) since October 2014. In June 2022 , he was elevated to the position of Chairman of  RJIL.
During his tenure, Jio achieved the feat of crossing the 100 million subscriber mark in less than six months of its launch in 2016. The company posted profit of over Rs 30,000 crore and revenue of Rs 1.46 lakh crore for fiscal year 2026.

Digital Bharat Nidhi has signed a pact with the Andhra Pradesh government to roll out amended BharatNet programme in the state with financial support of Rs 2,432 crore from the Centre, an official statement said on Wednesday.
The agreement was signed between Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN), the Andhra Pradesh government, Andhra Pradesh BharatNet Infrastructure Limited (APBIL), Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Andhra Pradesh State FiberNet Limited (APSFL) for implementation of the Amended BharatNet Programme to accelerate broadband connectivity across the rural part of the state.
"The Government of India has approved financial support of Rs 2,432 crore for implementation of the programme in Andhra Pradesh. The initiative is expected to facilitate more than five lakh rural home fibre connections with financial support from the Government of India," the statement said.

The NDMC has allowed one-third of Group B and Group C employees in its departments to work from home with immediate effect as part of measures to reduce avoidable commute, optimise fuel consumption and encourage digital-first administrative practices, according to an order issued on Wednesday.
The order, issued by the Office of Director (Personnel), said the arrangement would be applicable in departments where it is administratively feasible.
The order said employees commuting from far away areas using personal vehicles should preferably be included in the work-from-home list. It also directed heads of departments to ensure proper allocation of responsibilities, availability of officers and staff during office hours, and maintenance of service delivery standards.
Employees permitted to work from home have been asked to remain accessible through official communication channels and attend office physically whenever required, the order read.

Domestic passenger vehicle dispatches from companies to dealers rose 25.4 per cent year-on-year to 4,37,312  units in April this year, industry body SIAM said on Thursday.
Passenger vehicle dispatches stood at 3,48,847 units in April 2025, SIAM said in a statement.
Total two-wheeler sales rose 28.4 per cent to 18,72,691 units last month as against 14,58,784  units in April last year, it added. Three-wheeler dispatches to dealers were up 32.8 per cent last month at 65,668 units as against 49,441 units in the year-ago period, it added.
