A cohesive national and state-level regulatory framework that gives investors long-term confidence is essential for the country to meet its non-fossil goals, according to a CRISIL expert.
The government has an ambitious target of having 500 GW non-fossil fuel-based power generation capacity by 2030.
Non-fossil fuel capacities include sources like solar, wind,  biomass, waste-to-energy, hydro projects etc.
"Achieving India's 500 GW non-fossil target will require a cohesive national and state-level regulatory framework that gives investors long-term confidence," a statement issued by FICCI said, quoting Ashish Mittal, Director,  Energy & Commodities, CRISIL.
Cap-and-floor mechanisms, viability gap funding and storage-as-a-service models will be critical to de-risk investments and unlock private capital at the scale India now needs, he said at FICCI's India Power and Energy Storage Conference on Wednesday.

Office space leasing across India's top seven cities rose 6 per cent to 71.5 million square feet this year on better demand from domestic and foreign companies, according to Colliers.
Real estate consultant Colliers India on Wednesday noted that the office demand is expected to remain robust next year, driven by growth in technology and BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance) sectors.
As per the data, the gross leasing of Grade A office spaces is estimated to have increased to 71.5 million square feet this year across seven major cities from 67.2 million square feet in the 2024 calendar year.
The demand fell in Mumbai and Hyderabad, but increased in the other five cities -- Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, Kolkata and Delhi-NCR.
Gross absorption does not include lease renewals, pre-commitments and deals where only a letter of Intent has been signed.

Mercedes-Benz India is considering hiking prices of its products every quarter in the next calendar year to offset the adverse impact of rupee depreciation against the euro, its Managing Director and CEO Santosh Iyer said on Tuesday.
The company has already announced plans to hike prices of its products by up to 2 per cent from January 1, 2026.
The price adjustment reflects the ongoing forex challenges as euro-rupee exchange rate consistently remains above Rs 100-mark in 2025, significantly higher than historical averages, it had stated.
"We are considering price hike every quarter next year, and that is because of rupee devaluation to euro," Iyer told PTI here on the sidelines of FICCI Mercedes-Benz Bharat Innovation business ideas challenge programme launch.
He said about 18 months back, the exchange value was Rs 89 to a euro and now it's around Rs 104-105.
"That is more than 15-18 per cent of depreciation," he noted.
