After 23 years, Brihadisvara Temple decked up for 6th consecration ceremony

Thanjavur (Tamil Nadu), Feb 05 (ANI): The 1,000-year-old Brihadisvara Temple in Thanjavur is all decked up for its 6th Kumbhabhishekham (consecration) ceremony. The consecration ceremony will be organised at the temple after a long gap of 23 years. Numbers of devotees will attend the ceremony. The temple, which is being maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), is being renovated with a fresh coat of paint and other restructuring work. Last consecration ceremony was organised in 1997, a where a massive fire was engulfed that caused numerous deaths and eventually, the consecration ceremony was not celebrated there until now.
