Antalya, Nov 16 (ANI): India and Australia finalised their civil nuclear deal, making it possible for energy-starved New Delhi to buy uranium from Canberra after meeting between the two prime ministers on the sidelines of G-20 Summit in Turkey. The two countries announced the exchange of instruments of ratification after meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his new Australian counterpart Malcolm Turnbull in Antalya. The nuclear deal is a further step toward India achieving international acceptability for its nuclear programme despite not ratifying the nuclear non-proliferation treaty, and follows similar agreements with the United States and France. Talks towards the Civil Nuclear Cooperation Agreement began a few years ago after Australia lifted a long-standing ban on selling uranium to energy-starved India.
