Polling starts for first phase of Nepal Elections after two decades

Kathmandu (Nepal), May 14 (ANI): Polling has started for the first phase of its historic local election commencing after nearly two decades in Nepal. The polling will take place in 6,642 polling stations and About 5 Million people are eligible to exercise their vote in the first phase. Nearly 50,000 candidates are contesting in the election for 13,556 positions on village and city councils on 34 districts of three provinces namely 3, 4 and 6. The security has been heightened all across the country and as many as 2, 26,000 security personnel have been deployed to ensure the polling goes on safely.
