Minsk, June 04 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee lauded Belarus for supporting India's bid for a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Mukherjee made the comments during his address to Belarus State University in capital Minsk. India had first tabled a resolution demanding a permanent seat in the UNSC back in 2005 and ever since has only reiterated its demand citing its sizeable personnel contributions to UN peace keeping missions among other things. Belarus had supported India's candidature for the non-permanent seat of UNSC for the years 2011-12. India in turn supported Belarus for its membership in the Non-Alignment Movement (NAM) and other international and multilateral fora. Belarus acknowledges India as an emerging global power and seeks to develop a strategic relationship with India. Mukherjee was also conferred the Professor Honoris Causa by the Rector of Belarusian State University, Professor Sergey V. Ablameyko, at Belarusian State University. Mukherj
