The Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 2025 will concluded its first week of action today at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Vizag with two important matches on the card. In the first match of the night, Telugu Titans finally won thier first match of the seaon after defeating Jaipur Pink Panthers by 5 points. In the second match, Dabang Delhi beat Puneri Paltan in the golden raid after the match was tied 28-28 and tie-breaker was tied at 5-5. This is the first time a winner is decided by golden raid in PKL.
Match 1: Jaipur Pink Panthers vs Telugu Titans
The Telugu Titans finally opened their account in Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 with a 37-32 win over Jaipur Pink Panthers at the Vishwanadh Sports Club in Vizag on Thursday. The victory was powered by an all-round effort, with skipper Vijay Malik and Bharat Hooda scoring eight points each, while Ajit Pawar starred in defence with a High Five. Jaipur’s Nitin Kumar Dhankar put in a superb individual show, finishing with 13 raid points, but his effort went in vain.
The contest began evenly, with both sides exchanging points in the opening minutes. Bharat then took charge with back-to-back raids, giving the Titans a narrow lead. The turning point of the first half came in the 13th minute, when Ajit Pawar led the defence to inflict an all-out on Jaipur, opening up a sizeable advantage. With Chetan Sahu and Malik contributing steadily, the Titans went into half-time 16-9 ahead.
Jaipur fought back strongly in the second half, with Nitin Kumar’s flurry of raids and Reza Mirbagheri’s tackles keeping them in the contest. A Super Tackle by Pawar helped the Titans resist, but Nitin’s brilliance eventually brought an all-out on the Titans early in the final quarter, reducing the margin to just three points.
However, Bharat responded with a Super Raid, and Malik sealed the contest with another decisive multi-point raid in the dying minutes. The Titans held firm to register their first win of the season and their first-ever triumph over the two-time champions.
Match 2: Puneri Paltan vs Dabang Delhi
Dabang Delhi K.C. edged Puneri Paltan in a nail-biting clash decided by a Golden Raid at the Vishwanadh Sports Club in Vizag on Thursday. Skipper Ashu Malik delivered yet another Super 10, while veteran defender Fazel Atrachali earned a High Five as Delhi stunned the in-form Paltan 30-29 in a thrilling finish.
Puneri Paltan started brightly, racing to a 2-0 lead before Delhi responded through Atrachali’s early tackle. The game stayed tight at 8-6 after the first Time Out, but Ashu Malik’s Super Raid tilted momentum in Delhi’s favour. He continued to dominate, helping his side stretch the lead to 18-11 before heading into half-time 18-13 ahead.
The second half saw Paltan storm back into the contest. They cut the deficit to one point and soon inflicted an all-out to snatch the lead at 22-21. Riding on strong defensive work, Paltan extended their advantage to 24-21 and looked in control.
Delhi, however, refused to give in. Neeraj Narwal’s raid and another solid defensive play reduced the margin to 24-26. In the final minute, with Paltan ahead 28-27, Delhi denied Sachin a point, levelling the game at 28-28 and forcing a tie-breaker.
Both teams stayed neck-and-neck at 5-5 in the tie-breaker, pushing the contest into a Golden Raid. Delhi won the toss and handed the responsibility to Malik, who showed composure under pressure. He earned both a bonus and a touch point on Gaurav Khatri, sealing a dramatic win for Dabang Delhi.
