Arvind Kejriwal: Delhi's muffler 'aam aadmi' who penned a political dream

With a basic ballpoint in his pocket, muffler around his neck, baggy sweater and blue Wagon R, Arvind Kejriwal was the archetypal common man when he came into the public domain. And when he used the descriptive to actually name his party after the aam aadmi, people were drawn to it in droves. That was 2013. Twelve years later, that dream of being a pan-India party and a national level leader is beginning to come undone for the bureaucrat-activist who chose to become a politician - not by joining an established party but starting his own from ground up. Only BJP can increase Delhi's pace of development, says Rajnath Singh

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said the world today listens to India due to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi while earlier the country was not taken seriously on global platforms. Participating in a roadshow in Chattarpur to seek votes for BJP candidate Kartar Singh Tanwar on the last day of campaigning for the Delhi polls, Singh said the ruling AAP has cheated the people and asserted that only the saffron party can increase the city's pace of development. "Earlier, India's voice was not taken seriously on global forums but now under the leadership of PM Modi, the world listens to India carefully. India was the 11th largest economy in 2014, now it is at the fifth position and will be at the third spot in the coming years. "Delhiites have seen that the country is growing rapidly under the leadership of PM Modi ji but due to the AAP government, Delhi has not been able to develop at the same pace. The people of Delhi have been constantly mislead and deceived," .

Delhi left behind as AAP govt kept fighting with Centre: Amit Shah

BJP leader Amit Shah on Monday said states with a double-engine BJP government have progressed in the last 10 years, but Delhi has been left behind because the Aam Aadmi Party kept making excuses and fighting with the Centre. Speaking at a public meeting in Jangpura, Shah called AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia "bade miyan and chote miyan" and accused them of "looting" Delhi. "States having a double-engine BJP government have progressed in the last 10 years. Delhi has been left behind, they keep making excuses and fighting with the Centre like a cry baby (babua sa munh banakar)," the Union Home Minister said. Firing a fresh salvo at Sisodia, who is contesting from the Jangpura Assembly seat against BJP's Tarvinder Singh Marwah, Shah said he is the only education minister in the country who went to jail in connection with a liquor scam. He alleged that Kejriwal lied to the people of Delhi and gave them only garbage, toxic water, and corruption. "'Bade miyan a

Time to free Delhi of AAP's 'extremely poor' governance: Vaishnaw

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday said the time has come to free Delhi from the group of Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP which has provided extremely poor governance in the national capital. Campaigning door-to-door in the Panckuian Road locality in New Delhi, Vaishnaw urged voters to come out in large numbers to exercise their franchise in the February 5 assembly elections in Delhi. We are at a crucial stage. Everyone has seen how Kejriwal, with his extremely poor governance, has pushed this beautiful city of Delhi into serious problems. Now, the time has come to free ourselves from this and take Delhi forward, Vaishnaw, the Information and Broadcasting Minister said. It is essential that on election day (Feb 5), everyone remembers to step out by 8 am and also encourage others to go out and vote, the bureaucrat-turned-politician said. The BJP has asked several of its Union ministers and chief ministers to campaign for the Delhi polls. Chief Ministers Himanta Biswa Sarma (Assam),
