BJP sees red over renaming of CMO Delhi X handle, seeks LG's intervention

The BJP on Thursday demanded the lieutenant governor's intervention into renaming of official 'CMO Delhi' handle on X to 'Arvind Kejriwal At Work' allegedly at the behest of the former chief minister. The BJP must stop making "baseless allegations" and focus on governing Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said in a statement. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva demanded Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena to seek a report from the IT department of the government on renaming of the 'CMO Delhi' handle on X and its alleged use for putting up posts of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The BJP has returned to power in Delhi after 26 years, defeating the AAP in February 5 assembly polls. The party's government is yet to be formed. "It would not be an exaggeration to say that as soon as his corrupt government collapsed, Arvind Kejriwal has also become a digital looter, Sachdeva charged. He strongly condemned Kejriwal for allegedly renaming the official handle created by using publi

Outgoing Delhi chief minister Atishi on Thursday said within three days of AAP loosing its hold in the national capital, the city has been facing power cuts. The senior AAP leader said BJP wants to turn Delhi into Uttar Pradesh, a city known known for hours long power outages. No immediate reaction was immediately available from the BJP. Addressing a press conference, Atishi claimed that within three days of AAP ousted of power in Delhi, more than 40 outages were reported from different areas of the city and people have now started buying inverters. Delhi HC seeks Amanatullah Khan's stand on ED plea in money laundering case

The Delhi High Court on Thursday sought the stand of AAP leader Amanatullah Khan on the Enforcement Directorate's plea challenging a trial court order refusing to take cognisance of a chargesheet filed against him and releasing him in a money laundering case related to alleged irregularities in the Delhi Waqf Board. Justice Vikas Mahajan issued notice to the AAP MLA from Okhla and listed the matter for further hearing on March 21. The judge also asked the trial court to defer its proceedings till after the next date of hearing in the high court. The court passed the direction after the ED counsel made a request for the same on the grounds that while the trial court had refused to take cognisance of the prosecution complaint (chargesheet) against Khan and his wife, it was scheduled to hear the matter on Friday against other accused. The trial court had last year declined to take cognisance against Khan for the alleged offence of money laundering under the Prevention of Money launder

Internal tussle delaying appointment of Delhi CM, says AAP; BJP hits back

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday alleged that the ongoing internal tussle within the BJP was delaying the appointment of a chief minister for Delhi and affecting the governance of the national capital. Responding to the allegations, Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said it is regrettable that despite being rejected by the public, the AAP leaders are still making false statements. AAP's chief spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar alleged that long power cuts were being reported in several parts of the city due to the BJP's inaction, an official statement from AAP stated. "It has been several days since the election results were announced, yet the BJP has not been able to decide on a chief minister. Meanwhile, Delhi's residents are suffering from prolonged power cuts. "Why should the people of Delhi bear the brunt of the BJP's internal fight?" Kakkar said. Responding on the claims of power cuts, BJP's Kapoor said, "After being rejected by all sections of society in the ...

Delhi polls: Fewer MLAs with criminal cases; average asset value surges

Thirty-one of the 70 candidates elected to the eighth Delhi Assembly have declared criminal cases against their names, according to poll rights body ADR. The figure is lower than the 43 MLAs in the seventh assembly who had declared criminal cases. The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Delhi Election Watch, which analysed the affidavits submitted by all 699 candidates who contested the assembly elections, said the number of winning candidates with serious criminal cases remained a concern. The analysis found that 17 newly-elected candidates were facing serious criminal cases, including those related to attempted murder and crimes against women. In the 2020 election, 37 candidates who had emerged victorious declared serious criminal cases. One newly-elected MLA in 2025 has declared cases related to attempted murder while two others are facing charges of crimes against women. A party-wise breakdown shows that 16 of the BJP's 48 MLAs and 15 of AAP's 22 lawmakers have crimi

There won't be any impact of Delhi poll results in Bihar, says Tejashwi

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday dismissed suggestions that the BJP's stupendous victory in the Delhi assembly polls will have an impact in Bihar where elections are due later this year. The former deputy chief minister of Bihar also said that a return to power "after nearly 26 years" made it incumbent upon the BJP to fulfil the promises made to the people of Delhi. Yadav, who is now the leader of the opposition in the state assembly, briefly replied to questions from journalists about the verdict in Delhi where INDIA bloc partner Aam Aadmi Party was voted out of power. "In a democracy, the people are supreme (janta maalik hai). The BJP has been voted to power after nearly 26 years. Hopefully, promises made to the people will be fulfilled and there will not be empty rhetoric (jumlebaazi)," Yadav said. The RJD leader, whose party has won the highest number of seats in the last two assembly polls in Bihar, was also asked about the claim of the BJP and its allies that upcoming ...
