Amazon nations seek support on climate change, urge developed countries

Eight Amazon nations called on industrialized countries to do more to help preserve the world's largest rainforest as they met at a major summit in Brazil to chart a common course on how to combat climate change. The leaders of South American nations that are home to the Amazon, meeting at a two-day summit in the city of Belem that ends Wednesday, said the task of stopping the destruction of the rainforest can't fall to just a few when the crisis has been caused by so many. Amazon Fresh begins offering grocery delivery for non-Prime members

Amazon has begun offering its Fresh grocery delivery service to customers who aren't Prime members. The initial rollout will only be available in a dozen cities, including Boston, Phoenix, Dallas and San Francisco, the company told customers Wednesday in an emailed announcement. Previously, Amazon had only offered grocery deliveries for Prime members, who pay $139 a year for faster shipping and other perks. Non-Prime members who're interested in trying out the service will pay $13.95 for deliveries under $50. That's $4 more than Prime members have to pay for the same order size. Deliveries for orders between $50 and $100 will cost $10.95, and orders over $100 will incur a $7.95 fee. The company said pick-up orders are free from select metro areas. Amazon operates 44 Fresh grocery stores across the country, most of which are located in California, Illinois, Virginia and Washington state. Amazon is cutting jobs in its Fresh Grocery stores as part of a restructuring plan in the US. The company confirmed Thursday that its eliminating zone lead roles, a lower-level management position in its grocery stores that, among other things, oversees associates and deals with customer issues. Indian exporters on Amazon Global Selling see close to 70% business growth

Indian exporters on Amazon's e-commerce exports programme Amazon Global Selling saw nearly 70 per cent year-on-year business growth during Prime Day, the company said. The exporters from tier-2 and tier-3 cities grew from 40 per cent on year to up to 75 per cent on year, with Panipat emerging at the top in terms of exporter growth followed by Indore and Jaipur (55 pc y-o-y), and Erode (40 per cent on year).
