The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday granted regular bail to TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu in the Skill Development Corporation scam case. The court converted Naidu's four-week interim medical bail into absolute bail and ordered the former chief minister's release on regular bail. "The interim bail granted to A37 (Naidu) dated October 31 is made absolute, and the petitioner (Naidu) is ordered to be released on regular bail on the bail bond already furnished by him," the court said in its order. However, the interim bail conditions such as refraining from making any public comments related to the Skill Development Corporation scam case or organising or participating in public rallies and meetings will continue to be in force till November 28. The High Court said these conditions will be relaxed from November 29. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday announced that the government would compensate the fishermen up to 80 per cent of the losses they incurred in the fire accident here in which several boats were gutted. As many as 36 fishing boats were completely gutted and nine partially damaged in a massive fire which erupted in the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, officials said. Noting that the fishermen had suffered a big loss, the chief minister directed officials to dole out the relief. He also expressed grief over the fire accident. "Show humanity and pay compensation up to 80 per cent of the value so that the victims would be able to withstand the loss and restart fishing activity with confidence. The government should stand by the fishermen in such difficult circumstances," Reddy said in an official release. The India Meteorological Department on Tuesday forecast heavy rainfall in parts of Andhra Pradesh for two days from Tuesday, as an existing low pressure over the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a depression. The Supreme Court on Thursday adjourned to November 30 the hearing on TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu's plea seeking anticipatory bail in the FibreNet case. A bench of justices Aniruddha Bose and Bela M Trivedi deferred the matter, saying that the judgement in another petition filed by Naidu seeking quashing of plea in the skill development scam case is likely to be delivered after the court's Diwali vacation. "There is another petition by the same petitioner which has certain overlapping issues in which judgement has been reserved by this bench. Let the matter be listed for hearing on November 30," the bench said. Three people were killed when an APSRTC bus overshot the platform at the bus terminus here on Monday. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed shock and grief over the mishap at the Pandit Nehru bus terminus here and announced ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the kin of the deceased. The incident occurred this morning when an RTC bus crashed into platform no. 12 of the terminus here and mowed down three people. The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday rejected the CID's interim application to depute two DSP rank officers to tag along with TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu while he is out on medical bail, so that they can monitor his activities and submit reports to the court regularly. The court however reiterated the bail conditions it imposed. Rejecting the CID plea, the high court said that interim bail granted on health grounds should not be equated to a custodial bail. Additional Advocate General P Sudhakar Reddy represented the CID while D Srinivas argued on behalf of Naidu. The court agreed with Naidu's lawyer's argument that assigning two DSPs to the former CM's residence would constitute a breach of his right to privacy. The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) on Monday demanded the resignation of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in the wake of the train accident in Andhra Pradesh where 14 people were killed and 50 others injured. OPCC president Sarat Pattnayak said Vaishnaw should resign from the post on "moral grounds due to frequent train accidents" during the NDA regime at the Centre. At least nine people were killed and more than 32 injured after two trains collided on the Howrah-Chennai line in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday evening, police said. A senior official of the East Coast Railway (ECR) said at around 7 pm, the Palasa passenger train hit the Rayagada passenger train from behind at Kankatapalli, causing three coaches to derail. According to the information provided by Vizianagaram Collector S Nagalakshmi, at least 32 people were injured. A senior railway official said the injured were being shifted to hospitals in Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday directed Disaster Management Minister Sudam Marandi to visit neighbouring Andhra Pradesh's Vizianagaram district where a train accident has killed 14 people. According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), Patnaik also asked Marandi to meet the injured persons undergoing treatment at different hospitals. At around 7 pm on Sunday, the Palasa Passenger train hit the Rayagada Passenger train from behind at Kantakapalli, causing three coaches to derail. Fourteen people have been killed and at least 50 injured, officials said.
