AP Skill Development scam: CID interrogates Naidu for second day in prison

A team of Andhra Pradesh Police CID officials are interrogating TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu in the Skill Development Corporation scam case for the second day at the Rajamahendravaram central prison here on Sunday. The ACB Court had on Friday granted the CID two days' custody of the 73-year old TDP chief for further interrogation in the case. The questioning is allowed from 9.30 AM to 5 PM on both days (September 23 and 24). M R Ravi Kiran, DIG (Prisons) told PTI that Naidu has been handed over to the CID officials for interrogation as stipulated by the court. The two-day police custody and extension of judicial remand granted by the court will expire today. The court had instructed the CID officials to virtually produce Naidu before it through the Blue Jeans' app by 5 PM today. The TDP chief was virtually not produced before the court on Saturday. Andhra court extends remand of ex-CM Naidu till Sept 24 in corruption case

A court here on Friday extended the judicial remand of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu in the case pertaining to AP Skill Development Corporation scam till September 24. Additional Advocate General Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy told PTI that the special court for Anti-Corruption Bureau here extended the former Chief Minister's remand by two days. Meanwhile, the High Court has scheduled the hearing on the FIR quash petition filed by Naidu at 1:30 pm today. Chandrababu Naidu was arrested on September 9, for allegedly misappropriating funds from the Skill Development Corporation, leading to an alleged loss of over Rs 300 crore to the state exchequer. He is currently lodged in the Rajamahendravaram central prison.

AP assembly adjourned amid protests by TDP MLAs over Naidu's arrest

The Andhra Pradesh Assembly was on Friday adjourned briefly following continued protests by the opposition TDP which demanded the release of its leader N Chandrababu Naidu, who is in jail in connection with a corruption case. The assembly proceedings were disrupted for second day in a row over the arrest of the Leader of Opposition in connection with the multi-crore AP Skill Development Corporation scam. HC reserves orders on Naidu's plea seeking quashing of FIR in scam case

The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday reserved orders on a petition filed by former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu seeking quashing of an FIR filed against him by the police in the Skill Development Corporation scam case. The court heard the arguments from the legal counsels of Naidu and the AP Crime Investigation Department. Senior counsels Harish Salve and Siddarth Luthra representing Naidu argued that the CID did not obtain prior permission from the Governor as it is a mandatory requirement for police to seek prior approval for conducting any inquiry or investigation into any offence alleged to have been committed by a public servant. Mukul Rohatgi, on behalf of the CID, argued that Section 17(A) of CrPC is not applicable to the TDP supremo and informed the court that an intensive investigation is required in the case further. Proper procedures followed while arresting Naidu in fraud case: Andhra CID

Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department chief N Sanjay on Sunday said proper procedures were followed while arresting former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu in the Rs 371-crore alleged fraud case and rejected allegations by the TDP chief's son Nara Lokesh that its action was in violation of laws. Sanjay, who briefed media along with Additional Advocate General P Sudhakar Reddy, said the agency was under "pressure" to clarify the facts related to the Skill Development Corporation scam that occurred in 2015-16 in Andhra Pradesh as several TDP leaders were spreading "misformation." HC stays CID petition seeking Chandrababu's custody in multi-cr scam case

The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Wednesday stayed the proceedings in a petition filed by the state CID seeking the custody of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu in connection with the multi-crore Skill Development Corporation scam, till September 18. The court which was hearing a petition filed by Naidu requesting quashing the FIR registered against him in the case, posted for further hearing on September 19. The court also directed the Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department to file its reply.
