Chhattisgarh elections 2023: Amit Shah to address two BJP rallies in Bastar

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will on Thursday address two rallies in Chhattisgarh's Bastar division, where polling will be held in the first phase on November 7, a BJP leader said. This will be Shah's second visit to the Congress-ruled state after the announcement of election schedule for the 90-member assembly. The former BJP president, a key poll strategist of the party, earlier addressed an election rally in Rajnandgaon on October 16. Voting in the state will be held in two phases on November 7 and 17. Shah will arrive at the Maa Danteshwari Airport in Jagdalpur from New Delhi shortly after noon, said the BJP leader. The Union minister will attend a public meeting and nomination rally at Lalbagh Maidan in Jagdalpur, he said. Shah will later leave for Kondagaon where he will attend another election meeting and nomination rally at Police Ground, he said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate to the nation or lay foundation stones of several projects worth Rs 26,000 crore, including the NMDC's steel plant, at Jagdalpur city in poll-bound Chhattisgarh on Tuesday, where he will also address a public meeting. Incidentally, the Congress has called for a 'bandh' (shutdown) in the region during the PM's visit alleging the Modi government wants to privatise the steel plant, which is located in Nagarnar village, some 22 kilometres from Jagdalpur in Bastar district. It will be PM Modi's fourth visit in the last two-and-half months to the Congress-ruled state, where assembly elections are due by this year-end. 11 jawans injured after storm hits CRPF camp in Chhattisgarh's Bastar

Eleven Central Reserve Police Force troopers were injured after a storm hit their camp in Bastar district in Chhattisgarh on Friday afternoon, an official said. The camp of 241st battalion, located at Sedva village under Dharbha police station limits, some 336 kilometres from state capital Raipur, suffered substantial damage after a powerful storm hit it, Inspector General of Police Bastar Sundarraj P said. "Eleven CRPF jawans were injured in the incident. The residential quarters of jawans were damaged as the storm blew away tin sheets that formed the roof, power lines, iron frames and false ceilings," he said. "The wind speed was so high that tin sheets were scattered across the camp and several trees were uprooted. The injured jawans have been admitted in the battalion hospital and are out of danger," the IG added.
