MP Birla Group flagship company Birla Corporation has drawn up a strategy to augment its cement production capacity to 25 million tonnes by the 2025-26 fiscal from the existing 20 million tonnes, officials said on Tuesday. The cement maker is planning to meet its targeted production by increasing capacity utilisation at its Mukutban plant in Maharashtra, setting up the second clinker unit at Maihar in Madhya Pradesh and constructing new grinding units. "With the commissioning of Mukutban plant, we have virtually ring-fenced our core market of central India which we can service seamlessly from our six plants, namely Maihar, Satna, Kundangunj, Raebareli, Chanderia, and now, Mukutban. Birla Estates on Monday said it has acquired 28.6-acre land in Bengaluru to develop a housing project with an estimated sales potential of Rs 3,000 crore. In a regulatory filing, Century Textiles and Industries Ltd said its arm Birla Estates Pvt Ltd has purchased the 28.6-acre prime land parcel in the fast-developing micro-market of Sarjapur Road, Bengaluru. The company, however, did not disclose the deal value. Birla Estates is the real estate arm of the Aditya Birla Group. "The proposed project is estimated to have a revenue potential of about Rs 3,000 crore," the filing said. The development will essentially comprise residential housing along with convenience retail options. Addressing Vodafone Idea Ltd (VIL) shareholders at the company's Annual General Meeting, Birla said the telecom industry had witnessed the first round of tariff hikes by all operators in December 2019. "However, tariffs are still very low and therefore pricing revival is critical for the long-term growth of the sector," he said. Birla Tyres on Tuesday said its board will meet later this week to consider raising up to Rs 1,100 crore. The company's board will meet on August 28 (Friday) to consider capital raising options for an amount aggregating up to Rs 1,100 crore by way of equity or debt instruments, including non-convertible debentures, among others, Birla Tyres said in a regulatory filing. Post approval from the board, the shareholder approval, if required, will be sought, it added. The Kolkata-based firm, which caters to two-wheelers, three-wheelers and commercial vehicles, however, did not share reasons for raising capital.
