Mentha oil futures fall 1.19 pc on ample stocks

Mentha oil futures fell 1.19 per cent Monday as speculators trimmed positions amid ample stock position at the spot markets on increased arrivals and reduced demand from consuming industries. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in December contracts was trading lower by Rs 17.70, or 1.19 per cent to Rs 1,474 per kg in a business turnover of 58 lots. Analysts said cutting down of bets by participants due to ample stock at the spot markets against subdued demand, led to the fall in mentha oil prices at futures trade here.

Sensex gains over 220 points, Nifty trades above 10,850

The benchmark equity index, BSE Sensex registered a bullish jump on Monday morning with Sensex gaining 223 points, while NSE's Nifty 50 above 10,860 at around 09.45 am.As of the moment, Sensex is at 36,186.38 up by 223.45 points whereas Nifty is at 10,860.85, up by 55.40 points.Thirty-seven out of 50 Nifty stocks traded with gains.Indian benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE's Nifty 50 rose encouragingly on the first day of the week. The rise is being attributed to mixed indications for the global market and optimism of easing regulatory norms after the appointment of new Reserve Bank of India chief.On December 12, the newly appointed Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das had emphasised over the significance of the issue of liquidity and inflation target.He said, " The inflation target continues to be very important. Malaysia national utility's stock falls despite investment in Indian power company

Singapore, Dec 17 (ANI): Last week, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Malaysia's national utility company announced that it has agreed to invest USD 31.5 million into Indian power generation company GMR Bajoli Holi Hydropower Pte Ltd (GBHH).GBHH is building a 180MW hydroelectric power plant where energy is generated by the flow of the River Ravi in the Chamba district of the state of Himachal Pradesh. Overall progress of the project stands at 78% and the hydroelectric plant is expected to commence its commercial operations by October 2019. The completion of this investment is subject to approval from Bank Negara Malaysia (the Central Bank) and Ministry of Finance of Malaysia.The investment will come in the form of a subscription to a compulsorily convertible debenture (CCD) issued by GBHH. Sensex rises 224 pts on fund inflows, positive Asian cues

The equity benchmark BSE Sensex rose by almost 224 points Monday on buying in key frontline counters led by metal, banking, auto and energy stocks amid fresh foreign fund inflows. Positive cues from other Asian markets also bolstered trading sentiments here, traders said. The BSE Sensex rose 223.89 points, or 0.62 per cent, to 36,186.82. The gauge had gained over 33 points in the previous session on Friday. The broader Nifty 50 index was trading at 10,864.80, with a gain of 59.35 points, or 0.55 per cent. Major gainers were Vedanta Ltd, Reliannce Industries, Yes Bank, Tata Steel, Maruti Suzuki, Sun Pharma, HDFC Bank, Adani Ports and PowerGrid, and SBI, rising up to 3.83 per cent.
