The Delhi High Court has sought the stand of the city police on a petition seeking enquiry and action against its officers for alleged illegal arrest, physical assault and torture of a man apprehended in a case of attempted murder last month. Justice Vikas Mahajan issued notice on the petition by the wife of the alleged victim claiming "police transgressions" and directed that relevant CCTV footage, including those from the police station concerned, be preserved and placed on record. The petitioner has alleged her husband was "illegally" arrested around 1 AM on November 16 by a team of police officials in mufti who did not present a warrant of arrest, notice or documentation, and was subjected to physical abuse and public humiliation. Meanwhile, the Special Cell of Delhi Police has detained two more people following their suspected association with five arrested in the case
The detained persons are identified as Mahesh and Kailash, both residents of Rajasthan and have an alleged association with a social media group called 'Justice for Azad Bhagat Singh'
Ahead of the incident, all four accused had handed over their mobile phones to Jha so that crucial investigation details cannot get into police hands as they were anticipating their arrest
According to sources, the Special Cell team will also be taking the accused to their flat in Gurugram where they used to meet

The Delhi government on Thursday set up a six-member special task force to ensure strict implementation of measures outlined in the Centre's air pollution control plan GRAP in the capital, Environment Minister Gopal Rai said. Delhi's special secretary (environment) will head the STF whose members include senior officials from the departments of transport, traffic, revenue, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and Public Works Department (PWD). The STF will coordinate with all the departments involved in the enforcement of pollution control measures and submit a report to the government daily, Rai told reporters.
