Live-streaming of court proceedings important for people: CJI Chandrachud

Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice D Y Chandrachud Friday underscored the importance of live-streaming of court proceedings in reaching out to the citizens and said it was incumbent on the high courts to ensure that the funds released by the "extremely receptive" Centre in this regard are productively used. Advocating for making live-streaming of court proceedings a "permanent part" of the judicial system, CJI Chandrachud said the first tranche of nearly Rs 2,000 crore allocation is expected to be released by the Centre in June. "I think it is important that we reach out to citizens by ensuring live-streaming of our proceedings and I have no manner of doubt that this is now a mission which is not confined to the personal preferences of your present CJI who is fond of technology but something which we will incorporate as a permanent part of our judicial system," CJI Chandrachud said. Flexibility in work lives is on top of checklist of Indian workers: Report

A significant percentage of employees are demanding more flexibility in their working lives, and they are prepared to make compromises to get it, as per a report. According to the ADP Research Institute's People at Work 2022: A Global Workforce View, which surveyed almost 33,000 workers across 17 countries, more than 7 in 10 are seeking more flexibility in how they structure their working time. In India, 76.07 per cent of employees would prefer having control over their working hours, the report said, adding that they would take a pay cut to guarantee the flexibility of working remotely or have the opportunity to alternate between home and office. As per the report, around 76.38 per cent of employees in India would look for a new job if asked to return to work full-time. Meta-owned Facebook 'actioned' about 17.5 million content pieces across 13 violation categories in India during May, according to the latest monthly report by the social media giant. The content 'actioned' belonged to categories including bullying and harassment, violent and graphic content, adult nudity and sexual activity, child endangerment, dangerous organisations and individuals, and spam, among others. Facebook took action against about 17.5 million content pieces between May 1-31, 2022 across multiple categories, while Meta's photo-sharing platform Instagram 'actioned' nearly 4.1 million pieces of content across 12 categories during the same period, according to its recently-released India monthly report. "Taking action could include removing a piece of content from Facebook or Instagram or covering photos or videos that may be disturbing to some audiences with a warning," Meta's report said.
