The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Sunday announced the date for class 10th and 12th board exams, slated to begin from February 21 and 15, 2019 respectively.According to the date sheet, exams of class 10 students will conclude on March 29, whereas exams of class 12th will go on till April 3.Papers like music which are often taken as the sixth subject by the students will be conducted in the month of February while exams for the main subjects are beginning from March 2.The CBSE often faces criticism for dragging the exam till April ends which leads to delay in result declaration and clash with some competitive examinations.The results for both 10th and 12th class are expected to be out by the first week of June.
Two educational institutes of China have signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with the city's Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU) for promoting educational and research programmes. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who was on India visit, signed the LoI here Saturday evening along with BAMU Vice-Chancellor B A Chopade, university officials said Sunday. The agreement between the BAMU, the Dunhuang Academy and the Shenzen university of China envisages student, teacher exchange programmes and collaboration in research and education, among other areas, they said. Besides Chopade and Wang, Vice-President of Dunhaung Academy Zhao Shengliang and Shenzen University chairman Liu Jong Yi were present on the occasion. Eight children were among the 10 people who were killed when a bus in which they were returning after enjoying a picnic fell into a 200-feet gorge in Gujarat's Dang district, police said Sunday. Around 80 people, mostly students of a coaching class in Surat, were travelling in the bus, which was on its way to Surat when the incident occurred on the Mahal-Bardipada road near Ahwa town, 380 km from here, on Saturday evening, the police said. Over 24 people were injured when the driver apparently lost control of the bus. The deceased included eight children and two adults, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Shweta Shrimali. Seventeen students with serious injuries were shifted to hospitals in Surat. The rescue operation continued till late on Saturday night, the SP said. All the students, who were in the age group of 10-16 years, are residents of Amroli area in Surat. The students were returning after visiting the Sabri dam in Dang. The picnic was sponsored by their tuition class.

At least one student was killed Saturday after a private bus carrying around 70 students from Surat in Gujarat fell into a gorge near Ahwa in Dang district, police said. Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) has postponed its MBA and MCA examinations scheduled for December 27, the day when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a rally in Dharamshala to mark the first anniversary of the Jai Ram Thakur government in the state. HPTU assistant registrar said the MBA examinations will now be held on January 9, while the MCA exam on January 4. The examination dates have been revised due to administrative reasons, he added.
