The Delhi government-run schools may soon have entrepreneurship curriculum for students of class 9 to 12, according to Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. He said the initiative is aimed at making the students future ready. "We plan to introduce entrepreneurship curriculum in our schools for class 9 to 12 students. Entrepreneurship does not necessarily means business, we plan to develop life skills, behavioural skills and to impart proper etiquettes into the minds of children in order to decondition them and make them future ready," Sisodia, who is also Delhi's Education Minister, said. The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) protested at the varsity's library on Wednesday against the closure of the 24/7 library. The students' union had accused the varsity administration of cutting down library funds from Rs 8 crore to Rs 1.7 crore, a charge denied by the administration. The JNUSU staged a protest at the library, alleging that the students were not being allowed to take books outside the library. "JRF-NET (junior research fellowship-National Eligibility Test) exam is around the corner and the insensitivity of the librarian and the administration shows in the way they have reduced library budget by 80 per cent, and is continuously mismanaging and diverting funds for personal luxury," the JNUSU said. The Centre Wednesday released Rs 260 crore to the Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education department for five new medical colleges being set up in as many districts of the state. With the latest release of funds by the Centre, the cumulative release of central share for these colleges at Anantnag, Baramulla, Doda, Kathua and Rajouri, till date has reached Rs 765 crore, Principal Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Atal Dulloo said. He said the Union ministry of Health and Family Welfare has sanctioned five new medical colleges in the sate at a cost of Rs 189 crore each -- out of which Rs 139 crore is for civil works and Rs 50 crore for machinery and equipment. The civil works in all these medical colleges are at different levels of progress and have been expedited of late to put the requisite infrastructure in place at the earliest, he said. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Wednesday inaugurated the newly built administrative building of Dr Kalam Agriculture College in Kishanganj district, an official release said. Public sector units (PSUs) will now identify central themes for corporate social responsibility activities every year, with 60 per cent of their CSR expenditure dedicated to the thematic programmes, as per new guidelines issued by Department of Public Enterprises. The norms call for aspirational districts to be accorded preference by central public sector enterprises (CPSE) for their CSR activities. The Niti Aayog has identified 112 aspirational districts. "For the current year 2018-19, school education and healthcare may be taken up as the theme for focused intervention," the guidelines said. "The Competent Authority has further entrusted to Niti Aayog the responsibility to pilot the programme," they added. The CPSE undertaking CSR activity in aspirational districts would designate a senior level functionary as nodal officer to liaise closely with the district administration of concerned aspirational district.

The Delhi government will be developing a curriculum to inculcate habits of cleanliness and hygiene among school students, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia announced Wednesday. The government has sought suggestions from teachers and principals of government as well as private schools in the national capital to prepare the 'cleanliness curriculum'. "While students are contributors of garbage in schools they have no role in cleaning it or maintaining the cleanliness. The shutdown from 5 am was called to press for autonomous state under Article 244 (A) and withdrawal of Clause 8 of BLT Accord that grants ST (Hill) status to Bodos living in Assam's two hill districts of Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong. The shutdown has been called by Dimasa Students' Union, Kuki Students' Organisation, Hmar Students Association and Karbi Students' Association among others.
