Turns out, career choices can leave a significant impact on fertility in males and females, as per a recently-conducted study.Researchers at Taylor & Francis conducted a study based on a large-scale survey of students, the results of which showed that having children before a significant decline in fertility occurred was equally important to male and female students. However, they also expected to achieve many other life goals before becoming parents.Most students underestimate the impact of female and male age on fertility. Less than half could correctly identify the age when a woman's fertility declines and even fewer knew when male fertility declines.In an anonymous online questionnaire about their intentions and expectations for parenthood and knowledge of fertility, researchers found that 38 per cent of men and 45 per cent of women correctly identified 35-39 years as the age at which female fertility declines significantly. A few government schools in Chhattisgarh have complained that the tablets given to them by the Government to track the attendance of teachers and students online show obscene photographs on the screen when the devices are started."Since last few days, we had received complaints from different schools regarding the malfunction of the tablets given to them by the government. While checking it was found that tablets show obscene photographs whenever somebody tries to log in. Similar incidents have been others schools also in the state. We are working on this and the problem will be rectified soon. The left-wing All India Students Association (AISA) organised a six-hour-long sit-in outside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence today to urge the government to make students' pass valid on air-conditioned buses. Students from different colleges of Delhi University gathered outside the chief minister's residence. Later, a delegation of six students met Kejriwal who assured them that measures would be taken. After meeting the students, Kejriwal tweeted about allowing student pass on AC buses. "Directed Transport Minister to expedite the proposal to allow student pass in AC buses also," he said. "The non-AC buses are so crowded that women students become an easy target for sexual harassment and molestation in these buses. The number of buses needs to be increased and our passes need to be made valid in AC buses too to ease out the crowd," a student said.
The Jawaharlal Nehru University Teachers' Association (JNUTA) today called a one-day strike against the policies implemented by the varsity's vice-chancellor, a statement said. They said the strike was a huge success as majority of teachers as well as students joined the strike in support of demands of the teachers' association. They also participated in a protest march around JNU campus during the day. The decision to lodge protest, as the new semester commences in the university, was taken by the General Body Meeting of the JNUTA that was held on July 24. After the administration cancelled its event at the last moment, the NSUI today accused the Delhi University (DU) officials of working at the behest of RSS-affiliated ABVP. The Congress backed student wing claimed that despite having the permission to launch the University's first magazine, they weren't allowed to go ahead with the event. The Goa government teachers can soon hope for quick resolution of infrastructural issues in schools like leaking toilets or non-functional taps through an upcoming mobile application. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar told the Legislative Assembly today that Education department will launch a mobile app for the purpose. "The government had spent Rs 68 crore on infrastructure in schools in the last five years. We are developing a mobile application, which will be given to the government school teachers," he said. The chief minister said teachers could inform the Education department about a problem like leakage in toilets or non-functional taps in their schools through this app. "They will get a response within the 48 hours," he said explaining the utility of the upcoming app. The chief minister conceded that the government was facing infrastructure-related issues in rural areas, as the contractors are not ready to work there, especially in tribal areas. The Centre told the Supreme Court today that the procedure followed for the recruitment of contractual teachers in Bihar was not at par with the mode followed to recruit the regular teachers. The Ministry of Human Resources Development submitted an additional affidavit before a bench of Justices A M Sapre and U U Lalit and said that no competitive examination was conducted for the recruitment for contractual teachers. "Procedure followed for the recruitment of Niyojit (contractual) teachers is not at par with the mode followed to recruit the regular teachers. There was no competitive examination conducted for the recruitment of Niyojit teachers. Niyojit teachers have not undergone any examination or selection process evaluating their respective merits," the Centre said. Instances of some student recipients of laptops under the Goa government's Cyberage scheme selling them online have come to light, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar disclosed in the Legislative Assembly today. The government is now mulling over to amend the ambitious scheme. The state government is now contemplating to upgrade computer labs in schools instead of handing over laptops directly to the students of class XI, the intended beneficiaries of the scheme, he said. The Tamil Nadu government has allotted Rs 108 crore to set up a sports village on 175 acres of land, owned by Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, near here. A swimming pool would also built in the sports village by the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority and the university. State Higher Education Minister K P Anbazhagan today laid the foundation stone for the Rs 5-crore worldclass swimming pool. This would be the second worldclass pool, next only to the one at Velachery in Chennai. The project is to be completed in six months. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said Tamil Nadu stood first among all States in the gross enrollment ratio for higher education. During 2017-18, the gross enrolment ratio of higher education in the country was 25.8 per cent while the State average was 48.6 per cent, he said.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said students' union elections will be held in the state's colleges and universities in two months time, ending a decades-long wait. The elections will be held in the last week of September or in the first week of October, Khattar said. Issuing directions in this regard through video-conferencing here to all deputy commissioners and superintendents of police, the chief minister told them to make all arrangements to ensure that the elections are held peacefully, an official statement said.
