In a display of communal harmony, students at a Madrasa here are learning Sanskrit in addition to Hindi, English, and Urdu.Students of Gorakhpur's Darul Uloom Husainia Madrasa said they have enjoyed learning the subject so far, and are being taught well by their teachers and students."We feel good to learn Sanskrit. Jharkhand govt to give jobs to one lakh skilled youths
Jharkhand government will be providing employment to one lakh youths through skill development this year focusing on the six most backward districts of the state, Chief Minister Raghubar Das has said. 'UP govt has chalked out roadmap to implement scheme on aspirational districts'
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today said his government had chalked out a roadmap to implement the Transformation of Aspirational Districts programme. Speaking at the Yojana Bhawan here today, Adityanath said, "For the success of the programme, all the persons concerned have to work with a positive frame of mind. With public co-operation, the targets of the programme can be achieved and for this, there is no paucity of resources." He added that of the 115 such aspirational districts in the country, eight were from Uttar Pradesh -- Balrampur, Bahraich, Shrawasti, Siddharthnagar, Sonbhadra, Chandauli, Fatehpur and Chitrakoot. JNUSU to protest at one particular spot to avoid disruptions caused to students
Days after a JNU student approached the Delhi high court flagging his inability to attend classes due to continuous protests, the students' union, in an emergency council meeting today, decided to demonstrate at a particular spot on the campus instead of at multiple locations. "After due deliberations, the union calls for a protest at the Freedom Square next week. Taking into consideration the concerns of the students as expressed to the JNUSU, there is a need to reassess the present mode of agitation," one of the resolutions unanimously passed during the meeting said, and added that the union hence decided to hold protests at one spot inside the JNU premises. DUTA holds candlelight march against UGC move
The Delhi University Teachers' Association today took out a candlelight march outside the University Grants Commission (UGC) headquarters at ITO in protest against a March 5 UGC/MHRD circular instructing colleges and universities to make department-wise roster instead of the current system where the University/college is taken as a unit. The teachers raised slogans demanding that the circular be withdrawn. According to the circular issued by the UGC, all the universities, colleges and other grant-in-aid institutions and centres should prepare roster system keeping the Department / Subject as a unit for all levels of teachers as applicable. The circular also said that the department-wise roster should be applied to the total number of posts in each of the categories - Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor -- within the Department/Subject. Plea in HC against CBSE decision not to hold Class 10 maths retest
The Delhi High Court today said it would hear a plea tomorrow challenging the CBSE's decision not to hold a re-examination for the Class 10 mathematics paper, the contents of which were leaked recently. The plea was mentioned before a bench of Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar which listed it for a hearing tomorrow. The CBSE had on April 3 decided not to conduct the retest in Delhi-NCR and Haryana, the two regions where the leak reportedly took place. A day before the decision of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the high court had asked the board to inform it by April 16 about its plans, if any, for a re-examination. The CBSE told the court it was ascertaining the extent of the leak before announcing the date for a fresh test. The court had sought a response from the CBSE and the Centre on a plea for a court-monitored probe into the leaks of two papers -- Maths for Class 10 and Economics for Class 12. The CBSE has already announced that the Class 12 .

JNU attendance stir: Classes on staircases upsets HC
The Delhi High Court today termed as "unfortunate and sad" the holding of classes in JNU on its staircases amid an agitation against a decision to make at least 75 percent attendance a must for all the students. Ruing the joint stir by the students and the teachers, the court said the manner in which the students, keen to attend classes, are being stopped is "very unfortunate." Observing that this is not the way a university functions, a bench of Justice Rekha Palli asked the counsel for several JNU teachers to look into the issue and ask the students and faculty members not to block the way to class rooms. "The manner in which students are being stopped is very unfortunate. This is not the way in which a university functions. Out of 8,000 students, 5,000 are not being allowed to enter. HC admits student's plea seeking evaluation of answer-sheet based on question paper she got
The Kerala High Court today admitted a writ petition filed by a Class 10 CBSE student, who submitted that she was given a 2016 question paper for the recently held mathematics examination and urged that her answer-sheet be assessed based on the same. The student, Ameeya Saleem, submitted to the court that the question paper she had received for the mathematics examination was from 2016. The principal of her school, the Mount Carmel Vidyanikethan Senior Secondary School in Kanjikkuzhy, Kottayam, had already complained to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) regarding the mismatch of the mathematics question paper given to her on March 28. Admitting Ameeya's plea, Justice Shaji P Chaly observed that the pendency of the case would not be a bar for the CBSE to conduct a re-test for the petitioner alone. The CBSE is yet to announce new dates for the Class 10 and Class 12 examinations that were postponed in Punjab in view of the 'Bharat Bandh' on April 2, leaving the students and parents anxious.
