The Central Board of School Education (CBSE) has received a complaint by fax naming a person from Sector 8, Rajinder Nagar to be behind the paper leak of Class 10 and 12 examination papers.The complaint received by an unknown source on March 23 claimed that the perpetrator runs a coaching institute, and also named two schools from the same vicinity as complicit in the leakage, the CBSE conveyed to the Delhi Police on Thursday.In the letter to the Delhi Police, the education board stated that the complaint copy was forwarded to the regional office of CBSE on March 24 and to Inspector Sushil Yadav on his Whatsapp."On March 26, CBSE academic unit received an unaddressed envelope containing four sheets of hand written answer papers of economics paper held on that day. A class 11th student in Uttar Pradesh's Etawah City committed suicide by jumping in front of a train.The deceased, Sagar Yadav, a student of Gyansthali Academy in Etawah, died on Thursday, after he jumped in front of a train at the Mehra rail crossing here.Family and classmates of the deceased blamed two teachers of exploiting a meritorious Sagar, who achieved 85 percent in his class 10 examinations.They said that two teachers of the school pressurised Sagar into taking tuition classes from them sometime before the final examinations were due, to which Sagar had to oblige.However, the tuition classes did not help him much and soon he discontinued them. The teachers thus became hostile towards Sagar and failed him in four different subjects in the examinations.The classmates and family also revealed that the teachers had constantly threatened to fail him if he did not rejoin the classes.Further investigations into the case are ongoing by the Police.

The Cabinet on Wednesday approved a proposal for the continuation and strengthening of 669 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) till 2019-20.The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the Department of Agricultural Research and Education proposal for KVKs established before March 31 last year, a statement said.The Cabinet also approved the proposal for 11 Agricultural Technology Application Research Institutes (ATARIs), support to the Directorates of Extension Education (DEEs) of Agricultural Universities (AUs) and all special programmes associated with the scheme and establishment of 76 spills over KVKs as already approved in the 12th Plan.The financial outlay for the KVK Scheme, including Directorate of Knowledge Management in Agriculture (DKMA) for 2017-20, shall be of Rs 2,82,400.72 lakh, the PIB statement said.The KVKs would act as knowledge and resource centre in the field of agriculture in the district and would build models of ...
The Cabinet on Wednesday approved a whopping Rs 6,600 crore for providing education loans to students belonging to economically weaker sections.The Cabinet approved the continuation of Credit Guarantee Fund for Education Loans Scheme (CGFEL) and continuation and modification of Central Sector Interest Subsidy Scheme (CSIS).The government over the period of 2017-18 to 2019-20 would provide loans for 10 lakh students.In order to allow more students to access the benefit, (and also considering that the average loan size has been only Rs 4 lakh), the ceiling on the loan amount has been refixed at Rs 7.5 lakh.To promote quality education, the scheme would cover loans for pursuing professional/technical courses from NAAC/NBA accredited Institutions/programmes or Institutions of National Importance or Central Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs).This condition would, however, be applicable to prospective effect, and would not apply to the current loans.As against the scheme which ran since .

The Vice-Chancellor of West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences Prof P Ishwara Bhat today resigned from his post citing health and family reasons. His resignation follows demonstrations by the students' association demanding the V-C put in his papers by 9 am today. The students, under the banner 'Students Juridical Association', alleged that under the tenure of Bhat, there has been no coordination between students and the management, no dialogue and an overall decline in academic standards. The CBSE today announced re-examination in the Class 10 mathematics and Class 12 economics subjects in the wake of reports of paper leaks even as Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar said a new leak-proof system would be put in place for conducting the board exams. Seeking to reach out to parents and students worried over the alleged incidents of repeated leaks, Javadekar said he has spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and apprised him about the developments. He also said that the HRD ministry had initiated an internal probe into the matter.
