"Deadpool" star Ryan Reynolds has opened up about his struggles with "anxiety" and said he has been living with it for the most part of life. The 41-year-old actor made the admission in an interview with The New York Times where he was promoting his new film "Deadpool 2". "I have anxiety, I've always had anxiety. Both in the lighthearted 'I'm anxious about this' kind of thing, and I've been to the depths of the darker end of the spectrum, which is not fun," Reynold said. Reynolds also said that he went through a "real unhinged phase" in his 20s and "was partying and just trying to make myself vanish in some way". He also talked about the growing up with his father Jim Reynolds, a former police officer-turned-food wholesaler, in Vancouver, British Columbia, and called him "the stress dispensary in our house". Technicians always get the raw deal, even at Nat Awards: Pookutty

Oscar-winner sound designer Resul Pookutty has criticised the change in schedule that saw President Ram Nath Kovind honour only 11 of the 125 winners at the National Film Awards, saying it deprived the "smallest" of the people, the technicians, their moment of glory. More than 60 filmmakers decided to stay away from the award ceremony last evening after they were informed just a day before that the president will not be giving all the awards this year, a decision that has attracted widespread criticism from the industry. Pookutty, in a scathing Facebook post, said the National Film Awards were the only place where talent was recognised and not the stardom but that changed this year. "The Hon President mentioned in His speech at the National Award Ceremony that 'it is indeed a special moment for each of the 125 Award winners'! I do not know if it was special for all of them but I'm sure it was special for some of them!," Pookutty wrote. Citing the president's speech that there are ...

Sometimes we make mistakes: Reed Hastings on Cannes controversy

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings has regretted the streaming giant's spat with the organisers of the Cannes Film Festival, saying "sometimes we make mistakes". Netflix had pulled out of the famed film festival after the organisers announced a ban on films from the main competition which do not have a proper theatrical release in France. "I know we have a reputation as a disruptor and sometimes we make mistakes. We got into a bigger situation with Cannes than we meant to," Hastings said in Lille, northern France, during an onstage session at the Series Mania festival, reported Variety. "I think we got into a more difficult situation with the Cannes Film Festival than we meant to because, you know, we're not trying to disrupt the movie system; we are trying to make our members happy. We make our content for them," he added. Hastings also said that at least in France, Netflix would "focus now on series. Standup, docuseries as there is so much we can do without being a disruptor on the movie ...

This is era of actors, non-actors won't survive: Rishi Kapoor

More than four decades after he made his debut with the blockbuster teen romance "Bobby", veteran actor Rishi Kapoor says he now has the freedom to explore his characters and is no longer bracketed in an image. The actor, 65, who mostly played the romantic hero in his youth, has transitioned into strong character roles, be it the endearing school teacher of "Do Dooni Chaar", the merciless human trafficker of "Agneepath" or the cantankerous 70-year-old son of a centenarian father in his new film "102 Not Out". "I always try to be different and play varied kind of characters. I am not stagnating in one kind of an image. I am an actor who is doing his job. I am not making a career for myself. What safe (roles) can character actors play? They don't matter at all," Kapoor told PTI. The actor believes content has become king in cinema today, which he says is a wonderful sign for both the industry and audience. "Those hackneyed plots are not going to be accepted. It is a healthy thing that ..
