E-commerce giant Flipkart opens 4 lakh sqft fulfillment centre in Telangana

E-commerce giant Flipkart on Tuesday launched a new fulfillment centre (FC) at Sangareddy in Telangana about 60 km from here. The new fulfillment centre was inaugurated virtually by KT Rama Rao, Minister for IT and Industries in the presence of Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary (IT) and Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO, Flipkart Group. Spread over four lakh sq ft, the FC will further Flipkart's commitment to India's digital commerce evolution by empowering local sellers, employable youth, and customers while making e-commerce more inclusive and accessible. Krishnamurthy said the Sangareddy facility is the largest one in Telangana and it would create new livelihood opportunities and for thousands of people and help small businesses. He further said Flipkart currently has six fulfillment and sorting centres and close to 100 distribution hubs in Telangana with over 14,000 sellers collectively contributing to 40,000 direct and indirect job opportunities. Flipkart's 200 delivery hubs, investments in TN boost job opportunities

E-commerce company Flipkart has set up eight supply chain facilities and 200 delivery hubs in Tamil Nadu under its initiative towards creating inclusive job opportunities besides boosting economic growth, the company said on Tuesday. The company has onboarded 15,000 kirana partners under its Kirana Delivery programme, which enables faster customer shipments and also creates an alternative source of income for the partner kirana stores in the state. Kirana stores refers to small grocery stores that are usually family-owned. "Flipkart has eight supply chain facilities including fulfilment and sortation centres across Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Coimbatore and Hosur, which help in connecting sellers to the pan-India consumer base while delivering growth opportunities for the state," the company said in a statement. Competition Commission conducting inquiries against big tech firms: Govt

Competition Commission is conducting inquiries against Amazon, Flipkart, Zomato, Swiggy, BookMyShow, Apple, WhatsApp, Facebook (Meta) and Google for alleged anti-competitive practices, the government said on Tuesday. To a query in the Rajya Sabha on whether the government is aware of the fact that anti-competitive practices are indulged by big tech companies like Amazon, Flipkart, Google, Meta, Twitter, Apple, Facebook, Twitter and Google etc in the country, Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman replied in the affirmative. In a written reply, the Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister said the Competition Commission of India (CCI) after conducting inquiries in three different cases, passed orders in the matter related to Google on January 31, 2018, October 20, 2022, and October 25, 2022. Consumer gets soap instead of iPhone; Flipkart, retailer to compensate

A Consumer Commission has ordered e-commerce major Flipkart and a retailer to pay Rs 25,000 for deficiency in service and unfair trade practice and causing mental agony and physical harassment to a consumer who was delivered a bar of detergent soap and small keypad phone instead of the iPhone he had ordered. This payment will be apart from the refund of Rs 48,999 that the consumer Harsha S, a student from the district headquarters town of Koppal in Karnataka, had paid for the iPhone. Harsha approached the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Koppal, against Flipkart Internet Private Limited and Sane Retails complaining that he was sent a small keypad phone and a 'Nirma' soap instead of an Apple iPhone he had ordered online. He alleged in his complaint, which dates back to 2021, that he had paid Rs 48,999 and demanded refund and also compensation for deficiency of service and mental agony he underwent.
