Police imposes Section 144 in Noida, Greater Noida for Dec 31, Jan 1

The Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Saturday announced imposing prohibitory measures under CrPC section 144 on December 31 and January 1, preventing unlawful assembly of five or more people in Noida and Greater Noida. Unauthorised processions, holding religious prayers and consumption of alcohol in public places have also been banned for Sunday and Monday. As per the instructions, the use of private drones in a radius of one kilometre of government establishments is completely banned during the period. For the use of drones in other areas, police permission would be required, according to the order issued by the police commissionerate. "The festivities would begin on New Year's Eve which will continue till January 1. Along with these festivities, various programmes like demonstrations etc. are proposed to be organized by various organizations from time to time," the order noted. The boards of Noida Authority and Greater Noida Authority on Tuesday adopted the Uttar Pradesh government's order to implement recommendations of the Amitabh Kant Committee on real estate projects, in a move aimed at helping buyers get homes soon and builders complete stuck projects. The decision will impact around 190 group housing projects across Noida and Greater Noida where developers are yet to clear dues amounting to around Rs 32,000 crore while over one lakh flats are yet to be delivered to buyers, according to official estimates. Liquor shops to be open till 11 pm on eve of Christmas, New Year in Noida

Liquor shops will remain open till 11 pm on December 24 and 31 across Noida and Greater Noida on account of Christmas and New Year festivities, officials said on Saturday. The move follows an order of Uttar Pradesh Excise Commissioner Senthil Pandian C, who issued similar directions regarding extending the period of sale of liquor from all retail shops on the eve of Christmas and New Year. "In compliance with the order, authorised liquor outlets in Noida and Greater Noida will remain open from 10 am to 11 pm on December 24 and 31," Gautam Buddh Nagar District Excise Officer Subodh Kumar Srivastava told PTI. Usually, authorised liquor outlets in the region close at 10 pm. Air pollution: Rs 24.30-lakh fine imposed on 39 GRAP violations in Noida

As many as 39 violations of GRAP III were recorded in Noida and penalties worth Rs 24.30 lakh were imposed on offenders, including real estate developers, on Friday, officials said. As many as 26 challans were issued by the Noida authority, while 13 cases were recorded by the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (Noida office). The air quality index (AQI) in Noida was recorded at 428 (severe) at 4 pm on Friday. The Noida authority said in a statement it imposed penalties worth Rs 13.80 lakh on 26 entities flouting GRAP guidelines. The authority said its 14 teams are daily inspecting construction sites, roads and open spaces to ensure compliance of the GRAP rules. The Central Armed Police Forces' countrywide plantation drive reached the four-crore mark on Friday as Union Home Minister Amit Shah planted a sapling here. Noida Metro begins UPI payment facility at all stations for tickets

Passengers not having change money for purchasing tickets on Noida Metro can now avoid hassle by using the UPI payment facility across all the stations of the rail network. Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) Managing Director Lokesh M inaugurated the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payment facility at the Sector 51 metro station on Thursday. The UPI facility for purchasing tickets from counters is now functional at all stations of the Noida-Greater Noida Metro corridor, an official of the NMRC said. The use of cash, credit and debit cards for purchasing tickets at the counter or the NMRC smart card at the customer care centre at stations will continue as usual, the official added. Built at a cost of Rs 5,503 crore, the Aqua Line connects the twin cities of Noida and Greater Noida in Gautam Buddh Nagar over a distance of 29.7 km through 21 stations.

A Greater Noida group housing society issued a dress code for its residents, advising them not to wear 'lungis' or 'nighties' within the complex, only to withdraw the diktat on Wednesday. The dress code was issued via a notice by the residents' body of Himsagar Apartments on June 10 following a complaint about objectionable dressing by some residents. "All of you are expected to take care of your behaviour and dressing when venturing out in the society so that nobody gets a chance to raise any objection. Your children also learn from you. Hence, it is requested to you that lungi or nighty, which are worn inside homes, should not be used outdoors, the notice issued by the secretary of the residents' body stated. However, the move drew divergent reactions from the residents and apparently hurt" the sentiments of some, prompting the society to withdraw it after four days. "The notice related to the dress code on June 10 was issued on the basis of a complaint raised by some residents.

Greater Noida launches Data Centre scheme, expects Rs 20,000 cr investment

The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) said it has launched a land allotment scheme for 'Data Centres' from Tuesday and expects investments worth Rs 20,000 crore. The investments would also create 10,000 jobs in the region and the GNIDA would earn a revenue of Rs 1,000 crore against the allotment of 13 land parcels, it said in a statement. "Of the 13 plots for data centres, two plots are located in Sector Knowledge Park-5, and the remaining 11 plots are located in Sector Techzone. These plots range from 4047 sq meters to 1.07 lakh square meters in area. "Allotment of plots will be done through e-auction. If all these 13 plots are allotted, then there will be an investment of about Rs 20,000 crore, and it is estimated that 10,000 youth will get direct and indirect employment," GNIDA said. Over 30 held as guards, students clash inside university in Greater Noida

More than 30 private security guards and students were taken into police custody after a clash broke out between them at the state-run Gautam Buddha University in Greater Noida, officials said on Monday. The clash was triggered after security guards allegedly objected to some students smoking cigarettes at the Munshi Premchand Hostel inside the university campus, a police spokesperson told PTI. "An argument broke out between the two sides around 10.30 pm on Sunday and blew into a clash after which 33 people were taken into custody by a police team which reached the spot. The police have received complaints from both sides and the matter is being probed," the police spokesperson said. Among those detained are private security guards and college students involved in the clash, the official said, adding the exact break-up of the figures was not available immediately. A drug manufacturing laboratory allegedly set up by foreign nationals inside a residential house in Greater Noida has been busted, police said on Wednesday. Nine people of African origin have been arrested and 46 kg of methamphetamine estimated to be worth Rs 200 crore in the international market has been seized, Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh said. "The methamphetamine recovered is in the white, purest form. The nine foreigners were staying on rent in the house located in Sector Theta 2 of Greater Noida," Singh said. "Police have also seized raw material which could have been used to produce methamphetamine worth Rs 100 crore more," she told reporters. Those held have been identified as Anudum Emmanuel, Ajoku Ubaka, Daniel Azuh, Levi Uzochukw, Jacob Emefiele, Kofie, Chidi Ijiagwa (all eight from Nigeria) and Dramemond (from Senegal), the police said. Vivo to invest Rs 1,100 cr to ramp up mfg capacity in Greater Noida

Smartphone maker vivo on Thursday said it will invest Rs 1,100 crore more by the end of 2023 to scale up its manufacturing capacity in the country, and that production in its upcoming unit at Greater Noida is expected to commence by early 2024. vivo India also said it is "on track" to export more than one million 'Made in India' smartphones in 2023, having sent its first 'made in India' smartphone shipment to Thailand and Saudi Arabia during 2022. As part of its Rs 7,500-crore proposed investment plan it had outlined, vivo is on its way to complete the first phase investment of Rs 3,500 crore by the end of 2023.
