Railways pulls off steam engine train to celebrate 63rd railway week
The Indian Railways took distinctive trip to yester years of steam era trains to commemorate the 63rd railway week celebrations of the Northern Railways today. A steam engine brought over from the United States in 1947 -- Azad -- was run to and fro from New Delhi Railway Station to Delhi Junction on the occasion. Azad has been showcased in various movies including Aamir Khan starrer Rang de Basanti. The engine has a capacity to hold around 25,000 litre of water and 15 tonne of coal and can run at a speed of 100 kmph. An oppurtunity was given to the children of special needs school Navchetna to ride the steam engine hailed train. ''Indian Railways has a fairly good repository of steam engines, we are trying to resuscitate some of them. Special joy ride trains will be run on dedicated routes. The tickets of these runs will be priced such that everyone can take a ride on them," Chairman Railway Board Ashwani Lohani said after flagging off the train.

Railway tender case: CBI raids Rabri Devi's residence, questions Tejashwi
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday conducted a raid at the residence of former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad's wife Rabri Devi in connection with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) hotel tender case.The probe agency also interrogated Tejashwi for more than four hours in the same case which pertains to alleged irregularities in allotting a contract for the maintenance of IRCTC hotels in Ranchi and Puri.Last year, Tejashwi was interrogated by ED for eight and half hours in connection with the same case.In July 2017, the CBI registered a corruption case against Lalu, Rabri, Tejashwi and others for allegedly granting favours to a private hotel company through IRCTC when Lalu was the railway minister from 2004 to 2009.The CBI alleged that there were irregularities in awarding the tender for development, maintenance and operation of the BNR hotels in Ranchi and Puri.

Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board creates land bank to boost tourism
The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board (MPTB) has reportedly created a land bank with the aim of giving a major boost to tourism in the state.The recently created MPTB has procured above 849.077 hectares of land at 144 places in 49 districts of the state. Tourism players in Kashmir are seeking a pie from the rising number of tourists arriving into India from neighbouring Bangladesh, which overtook the United States for the highest number of tourist arrivals in the country last year. Foreign Tourist Arrivals to India has crossed the one crore mark 'for the first time' and the Centre is targeting doubling it in the next three years, Union Minister Alphons Kannanthanam said here today. "For the first time, the Foreign Tourist Arrivals have crossed the one crore mark. The total income from FTA comes to Rs 1,80,000 crore," Kannanthanam said. The government had set itself a target of doubling the FTA in the next three years and the nightlife tourism would be promoted to achieve this, he said. Wind topples giant statue of China's first emperor
A strong gale-force wind has toppled a giant statue of China's first emperor Qin Shi Huang and flattened its face at a popular tourist site in eastern Shandong province. The 19-metre bronze replica of the monarch -- who was the first to unify warring factions in China and established the Qin dynasty (221-206 BC) -- was blown out of its pedestal on Friday. Cranes were immediately called in to pick up the statue, which weighs about six tonnes, according to the state-run Peoples' Daily newspaper.
