The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday conducted a raid at the residence of former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad's wife Rabri Devi in connection with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) hotel tender case.The probe agency also interrogated Tejashwi for more than four hours in the same case which pertains to alleged irregularities in allotting a contract for the maintenance of IRCTC hotels in Ranchi and Puri.Last year, Tejashwi was interrogated by ED for eight and half hours in connection with the same case.In July 2017, the CBI registered a corruption case against Lalu, Rabri, Tejashwi and others for allegedly granting favours to a private hotel company through IRCTC when Lalu was the railway minister from 2004 to 2009.The CBI alleged that there were irregularities in awarding the tender for development, maintenance and operation of the BNR hotels in Ranchi and Puri.

The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board (MPTB) has reportedly created a land bank with the aim of giving a major boost to tourism in the state.The recently created MPTB has procured above 849.077 hectares of land at 144 places in 49 districts of the state. Tourism players in Kashmir are seeking a pie from the rising number of tourists arriving into India from neighbouring Bangladesh, which overtook the United States for the highest number of tourist arrivals in the country last year. In 2017, 17 lakh tourists from Bangladesh visited India. It was the highest number of tourists visiting India from any single country, Mehmood Shah, director of the state tourism department, told reporters here. Out of these, just 1,800-odd Bangladeshi tourists visited Kashmir, which was very low and insignificant, he said. "This number just represents scratching the tip of the iceberg." Foreign Tourist Arrivals to India has crossed the one crore mark 'for the first time' and the Centre is targeting doubling it in the next three years, Union Minister Alphons Kannanthanam said here today. "For the first time, the Foreign Tourist Arrivals have crossed the one crore mark. The total income from FTA comes to Rs 1,80,000 crore," Kannanthanam said. The government had set itself a target of doubling the FTA in the next three years and the nightlife tourism would be promoted to achieve this, he said. The tourism sector, contributing 6.88 per cent of the total GDP, generates 12.36 per cent of jobs in the country, he told reporters at Chengannur in Alappuzha district.
