Suspected hawala money found on railway track
A bag containing Rs 37.26 lakh, suspected to be hawala money, was found near a railway track here Friday, police said. A man, who spotted the bag, handed it over to police. Police said it might have been thrown out of a train. Income tax officials have been informed about the seizure, the police said. Police said five people, who claimed that the money was theirs, were being questioned. Investigations were on by the income tax sleuths and the police, they added. Hawala is a method of transferring money without any actual movement.

Maha: 4 dead in motorcycle-van collision in Nashik
Three teens and a 22-year-old were killed when the motorcycle they were travelling on was hit by a van in Maharashtra's Nashik district, police said Friday. The incident happened Thursday afternoon near Aundane village, about 80 kilometres from here, on Satana-Taharabad Road, a police official said. "The four are residents of Talawade and were coming from a religious function in Kanduri when the mishap happened. Three persons died on the spot while the fourth succumbed to injuries in a nearby hospital," he informed. The official identified the four as Samadhan Patait (18), Arun Devare (19), Anil Mali (18) and Sharad Sonawane (22). The driver of the van fled the spot and efforts were on to nab him, he added.

Crocodile kills man in Rajasthan's Karauli
A 30-year-old man was killed by a crocodile in Chambal River in Rajasthan's Karauli district, police said Thursday. The incident took place Wednesday night when the crocodile leapt from the water and grabbed the man who was standing near the banks of the river, SHO, Mandrayal police station, Raghuveer Singh said. The mutilated body of Mukesh Mallah was found Thursday by divers, he said. The body was handed over to the family members after post-mortem, the SHO said.
