A man believed to be a Nigerian national was found wandering in a village in Greater Noida Monday, unable to recall his name or other details, police said. The man, who appeared around 35 years of age, was found in Jaganpur village of Gautam Buddh Nagar at night. The villagers grew suspicious about his movement and alerted the police, an official from the Dankaur Police Station told PTI. "When asked about his name and other details, he was clueless. He told the police he lives in Sigma 1 (a locality in Greatern Noida). When policemen took him there, he said he lives in Sigma 4. When the team reached there, he again had vague responses," the official said. He said the man appears to have some mental health issue and the police were assisting him. Further probe was underway and the police were trying to find any acquaintances of the man, the official said.
The Puri district police on Monday placed a sub-inspector (SI) of police under suspension on charge of posting pictures, taken inside the Jagannath temple, on Facebook, police said. The Superintendent of Police (SP) of Puri district, Sarthak Sarangi took action barely some hours after photos, taken by a police official inside the temple, went viral on social media, the police said. Two engine drivers who averted a possible mishap recently after they stopped an express train following a heavy jerk caused by a rail fracture were Monday honoured by the Railways. Loco Pilot E V Mony Kandan and Assistant Loco Pilot S Naga Lingeswaran, both hailing from the city, were operating the Coimbatore-Mannargudi Chemmozhi Express on September 20 when they experienced a heavy jerk at around 2.50 am between Erode and Chavadipalayam stations. They immediately stopped the train and reported the matter to railway officials who rushed to the spot and noticed the rail fracture and rectified it, a release from Salem Railway Division said. US economists William Nordhaus and Paul Romer on Monday shared the 2018 Nobel Economics Prize for integrating innovation and climate with economic growth, the jury said. Nordhaus, a professor at Yale University, and Romer, a former World Bank chief economist now at New York University's Stern School of Business, have addressed "some of our time's most basic and pressing questions about how we create long-term sustained and sustainable growth," the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences said in a statement.
