Stephen Hawking's funeral to take place on Mar 31

Legendary British theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking will receive a private funeral at a church in Cambridge on March 31, his family has said. One of the world's most famous scientists, who died peacefully at his home in Cambridge aged 76 on March 14, will receive an "inclusive and traditional" funeral ceremony at Great St Mary's, the University Church in Cambridge, on Easter Saturday. His ashes will then be "interred" near the grave of Newton, another famous British scientist, during a thanksgiving service later this year. 2-yr-old dies due to alleged starvation in Madhya Pradesh

A two-year-old girl child from Madhya Pradesh's Bhind district died on Tuesday allegedly due to starvation after her father failed to buy food for her as he was "denied" his due wages."I have been removed from my work and not given my due wages. Therefore I could not buy food," said Kalyan, father of the victim, who is a daily-wage labourer, yesterday.Bhind Sub-Divisional Magistrate Santosh Tiwari has, however, assured that necessary action would be taken in the matter."We were informed that a family has not had food for two days. Canadian mathematician Langlands wins Abel Prize

Canadian mathematician Robert Langlands today won the prestigious Abel Prize for developing a programme connecting representation theory to number theory, Norway's Academy of Sciences and Letters said. "The programme has enlisted hundreds of the world's best mathematicians over the last 50 years. No other project in modern mathematics has as wide a scope, has produced so many deep results, and has so many people working on it," the Academy said in a statement. The so-called Langlands programme dates back to 1967, when the then-associate professor at Princeton University wrote a letter to renowned French mathematician Andre Weil outlining his new theory.
