Investors expect Sebi will fulfil mandate of protecting interests: Congress

The Congress on Friday said lakhs of investors expect that SEBI will faithfully fulfil its mandate of protecting their interests, and ensure transparency and accountability while probing the "opaque network of shell companies" that have allegedly funnelled crores into Adani companies. The Congress' assertion came after the Supreme Court said it may consider granting three more months to SEBI for concluding its probe into the allegations of stock price manipulation by the Adani group and lapses in regulatory disclosure, and listed a batch of PILs and plea by the market regulator on May 15. Tagging a media report on the Supreme Court's observations in the matter, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said in a tweet, "Supreme Court has given time till August 15th for SEBI to submit its report on the Adani Group." Adani group to prepay $130 mn debt in order to boost investor confidence

Billionaire Gautam Adani's group on Tuesday said it will prepay USD 130 million of debt as it looks to boost investor confidence post being targeted by a US short-seller. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone, the ports company of the Adani Group, had last month floated a tender to buy back as much as USD 130 million of its July 2024 bonds and similar amounts in each of the next four as it looked to regain investor confidence by showing that its liquidity position is comfortable. In a stock exchange filing, APSEZ said an aggregae principal amount of USD 412.7 million was validly tendered. "Since the principal amount of notes validly tendered and not validly withdrawn on or prior to the early tender date (of May 8) exceeded the maximum acceptance amount of USD 130 million in aggregate principal amount of the outstanding notes, the company will accept such notes for purchase subject to the proration factor of 34.2649 per cent," it said. Gold ETFs inflow declines 74% to Rs 653 cr in FY23 on profit booking

Inflow in gold exchange-traded funds (ETFs) dropped 74 per cent year-on-year to Rs 653 crore in 2022-23, mainly due to profit booking in this asset class and investors' preference for equities. However, the asset base of gold ETFs and investors' account or folio numbers increased in the last fiscal, data from the Association of Mutual Funds in India (Amfi) showed. Most of the investors are still preferring equity-oriented mutual funds over the other asset, with the segment registering a net inflow of over Rs 2 lakh crore in FY23. Also, investors have redeemed their investments in gold in favour of other asset classes. According to data available from the Association of Mutual Funds in India (Amfi), 14-gold linked ETFs have seen an inflow of Rs 653 crore in the fiscal year that ended on March 31 this year. National Stock Exchange cautions investors against two individuals

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Wednesday cautioned investors against two individuals and asked them not put their money in any investment product offered by them. The two individuals are Archana Patel associated with Piramid Solution and Naga Rathnam associated with Wings2Trade. They were offering to handle trading account of investors by asking them to share their user ID and password, the NSE said in two separate statements. According to the statements, these persons are not registered either as a member or authorised persons of any registered member of the NSE. Patel was providing guaranteed returns on investment in the stock market, the bourse said. Cautioning investors, NSE asked them not to subscribe to any such scheme or product offered by any person or entity offering guaranteed returns in the stock market as the same is prohibited by law.
