LSR to resume offline classes from Thursday after Astha Kunj gangrape

Lady Shri Ram College for Women will resume offline classes and its regular academic schedule from Thursday, a day after it shifted classes online following the alleged rape of a 17-year-old girl at Aastha Kunj Park near Kalkaji Mandir, the college principal said on Wednesday. "Meetings are going on offline with a large number of students and faculty. Offline classes and regular schedule shall resume from tomorrow," LSR principal Kanika K Ahuja said. The college had cancelled classes on Tuesday and shifted Wednesday's classes online following the incident, citing concerns over the safety, security and well-being of its students. "After we got to know about the unfortunate incident, we cancelled classes. The safety, security and well-being of our students is of paramount importance to us. We have requested our faculty mentors and college counsellor to remain available for any support students may require," Ahuja had said. The decision to resume offline classes comes as the college .

Delhi L-G orders safety audit of all parks after Astha Kunj gangrape

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Wednesday directed a safety audit of all city parks and deployment of Pink Police personnel around their premises following the gangrape of a teenage girl at a park in southeast Delhi's Kalkaji area. Sandhu met the Delhi Police Commissioner, MCD Commissioner and DDA Vice Chairman, the LG Office said in a post on X. He directed that a comprehensive safety audit of all Delhi parks be conducted within a week, with emphasis on adequate lighting, security, regular patrolling and cleanliness. The Delhi Police was also directed to strengthen beat patrolling, including deployment of Pink Police personnel around park premises, it said. The 17-year-old girl from Faridabad was gangraped by three men at Ashta Kunj Park near the Kalkaji temple on Monday evening. All three accused have been arrested, police said.
