25 arrested for mob attack on Channagiri police station in Karnataka

Police have so far arrested at least 25 people in connection with a mob attack on Channagiri police station, officials said on Monday. A police station was vandalised in Channagiri town in Davangere district and several vehicles were damaged by a violent mob over an alleged custodial death, during the small hours of Saturday. At least 11 police personnel were injured in the incident. The Criminal Investigation Department has now been handed over the probe into the case. Police said they have arrested 25 people in connection with a mob attack on the police station, personnel and properties under sections 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 307 (Attempt to murder) of IPC, and the suspects have been remanded in judicial custody. They said five police teams were formed to investigate the incident, and arrests have been made based on CCTV footage and video clips available. No response from Centre on request to cancel Prajwal's passport: K'taka min

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on Sunday said the state has not yet got any official response from the Centre regarding its request seeking cancellation of the diplomatic passport of Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, who is facing charges of sexually abusing women. Taking a dig at External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar's reported statement that the state government's request to cancel the diplomatic passport of Prajwal was received only on May 21, he sought to know what happened to the letter sent by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 1. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is processing a request of the Karnataka government seeking cancellation of the diplomatic passport of suspended Janata Dal (Secular) MP Prajwal Revanna, who is accused of sexually harassing several women. Official sources said that the MEA has received a letter from the Karnataka government seeking revocation of Revanna's diplomatic passport. Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, is at the centre of a sexual abuse case and the Hassan MP is said to have left India late last month, a day after voting for the Lok Sabha elections took place in his constituency. No lapses on govt's part in handling Prajwal's sexual abuse case: K'taka HM

Suspension order on Vedanta's iron ore plant in Karnataka revoked

The suspension order on mining operations at Vedanta's iron ore plant at Chitradurga in Karnataka has been revoked, the company said on Tuesday. Vedanta Ltd in April informed the BSE about the temporary suspension of mining operations at the iron ore mine due to non-compliance with the approved mining plan. "The Office of the Regional Controller of Mines, vide order dated May 21, 2024, has revoked the earlier order of suspension of mining operations under Rule 11(2) of the Mineral Conservation and Development Rules, 2017 in respect of our A. A special court for MPs and MLAs here has issued an arrest warrant against JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna in the sexual assault case. JD(S) MLA HD Revanna granted bail in kidnap case by Bengaluru court

A Special Court for Elected Representatives on Monday granted bail to JD(S) MLA H D Revanna in connection with a kidnap case. The 66-year-old former Minister was arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in an alleged case of abduction of a woman, linked to the allegations of sexual abuse of women by his son and Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, on May 4. The special court judge Santhosh Gajanan Bhat heard the matter and granted conditional bail to Revanna. His three-day police custody ended on May 8, following which he was produced in the XVII Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, which remanded him to seven days' judicial custody, till May 14. Sexual abuse case: Third FIR filed against Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna

One more rape case has been registered against JD(S) MP and Lok Sabha poll candidate from Hassan Prajwal Revanna, taking the number of cases pertaining to the alleged sexual abuse of several women to three, police sources said. The FIR was registered against Prajwal on May 8 in Bengaluru, according to sources in the Special Investigation Team which was constituted for a probe after a huge cache of explicit videos allegedly showing Prajwal sexually abusing several women became public. No victim has come forward to register a complaint against Karnataka MP Prajwal Revanna, and one woman complainant who reached out to the women's body alleged that she was forced to register a fake complaint against the JD(S) leader, the NCW said on Thursday. The timely submission of the Action Taken Report (ATR) by the concerned authorities reveal several significant findings, the National Commission for Women (NCW) added.
