The Madhya Pradesh government has started a helpline to assist people from the state as well as other parts of the country who are stranded in strife-torn Sudan, an official said on Tuesday. India on Monday launched Operation Kaveri' to bring back its nationals from the African country that has been witnessing fierce fighting following a power struggle between the regular army and a paramilitary force. Those stranded in Sudan and are keen to come back to MP or other states can contact the helpline 91-755-2555582 and share their details, the official said. The state government will coordinate with the Centre to facilitate their evacuation, he said. The government has appointed the state's home secretary Gaurav Rajput as the nodal officer for the purpose. SC transfers all FIRs against comedian Munawar Faruqui to Indore

The Supreme Court on Monday transferred all FIRs against comedian Munawar Faruqui, lodged against him for allegedly making remarks on Hindu deities during a show and hurting religious sentiments, to Indore in Madhya Pradesh. A bench of Justices BR Gavai and Sanjay Karol also extended Faruqui's interim protection for three weeks with regard to the production warrant in Delhi. The top court clarified that it has not commented on the merits of the plea for quashing and if any plea is filed, it shall be considered as per law on its merits. The apex court had on February 5, 2021 released Faruqui on an interim bail, staying the Madhya Pradesh High Court order under which he was refused release. Denying him bail, the Madhya Pradesh High Court had then noted that promoting harmony is one of the constitutional duties. PM to launch nine campaigns, mobile app Samaveshi Vikas on Monday in MP

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Monday launch nine campaigns on inclusive development, and also inaugurate a website and a mobile app on 'Samaveshi Vikas'. The Rural Development Ministry said in a statement that the campaigns will be launched on National Panchayati Raj Day on Monday in Reqa, Madhya Pradesh. Out of the nine campaigns under this theme, five are of the Ministry of Rural Development. NIA carries out searches in Seoni, 2 detained; electronic devices seized

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and local police have detained two persons for questioning after carrying out searches in Seoni in Madhya Pradesh, during which some objectionable material and electronic devices were allegedly seized, a police official said on Sunday. The searches were carried out on the premises of three persons on Saturday, after which two persons were taken to Jabalpur for interrogation, Seoni Superintendent of Police Ramji Shrivastava said. He identified the two persons as Aziz Salfi (40) and Shoeb Khan (27), adding the third person was released by the agency. Shrivastava said this action was taken in connection with a case registered in Delhi under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Indian Penal Code (IPC). "The NIA team seized electronic devices, hard disc and objectionable literature from these premises," he added.

The Madhya Pradesh cabinet has approved the new excise policy under which 'ahatas', or areas for drinking attached to liquor outlets, and shop bars will be closed. State Home Minister Narottam Mishra made the announcement after the cabinet meeting on Sunday evening and said the new excise policy is designed to discourage liquor consumption. This comes amid senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Uma Bharti's demand for a "controlled liquor policy" in MP. Bharti, who started her campaign with the demand for total prohibition, has now been asking for regularisation of liquor sale in the state, where the Assembly polls are due this year-end. "All ahatas and shop bars are being shut in the state.
