The AAP will launch a campaign 'AAP ka vidhayak, aap ke dwaar' from September 1 to reach out to people as the party gears up for the Delhi Assembly polls due early next year. Following a meeting of senior party leaders to chalk out the strategy for the polls, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak said the campaign will be intensified in the days to come. "There was a detailed discussion on various aspects related to governance, political scenario and each assembly constituency in Delhi. Manish Sisodia's 'padyatra' has been getting a very positive response," Pathak, who is also the party's national general secretary (organisation), told reporters after the meeting. "Wherever he is going people are coming out and saying 'you have been faced a lot of injustice'. We will continue these padyatras," he added. AAP accuses BJP, CBI of 'conspiring' to keep Arvind Kejriwal in jail

The Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday slammed the BJP and central probe agency CBI for allegedly conspiring to keep Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in jail in the excise policy case. No immediate reaction was available from either the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or the BJP on the AAP's charges. Senior AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Atishi alleged that the CBI sought time from the Supreme Court to file a reply on Kejriwal's bail plea, but "planted" it in newspapers. "The CBI says in court that its reply on the bail plea is not ready and so the hearing of bail be extended by 14 days. The same day the CBI's reply is given to the media so that it can become a one-sided headline in the newspapers," Sisodia posted on X in Hindi. "The CBI is dancing like a puppet on the BJP instructions to keep Arvind Kejriwal in jail," he added. The senior AAP leader asserted that the conspiracies being hatched for "headline management" will fail and truth and honesty will win one day. The agen

Kejriwal did as much work in 8 yrs that BJP could not do in 20: Sisodia

The BJP has a problem with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal because he did as much work in eight years that their governments could not do in 20, senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia said on Sunday. Sisodia, who was taking part in a 'padyatra' in the Deoli assembly constituency, said Kejriwal was popular in the entire country because he built schools. A trusted lieutenant of Kejriwal, the former deputy chief minister walked out of jail on August 9 on bail after spending 17 months behind bars in connection with the excise policy case. "Arvind Kejriwal is the only chief minister who has brought down electricity bills to zero while electricity is getting expensive in the rest of the world and the country. He created a system of free treatment in government hospitals," Sisodia said. He also highlighted the various welfare initiatives of the Delhi government. "The BJP has a problem that Arvind Kejriwal did so much work in his seven-eight years that chief ministers of BJP-ruled states c

AAP intensifies preparations for Delhi polls; buoyed by Sisodia's release

Energised by the release of senior leader Manish Sisodia from jail after 17 months, the AAP has intensified its preparations for next year's Delhi Assembly elections, organising workers' meetings in each constituency to design the campaign. Conspiracy to keep me in jail till Delhi Assembly polls failed: Sisodia

Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia as part of his 'Padyatra' campaign met people of his Patparganj constituency on Saturday, and alleged the BJP's "conspiracy" to keep him in jail till the Delhi Assembly polls failed due to the blessings of Lord Hanuman. The former deputy CM of Delhi, without naming any party leaders, said the central government agencies registered such cases against him and Kejriwal that are registered against terrorists and drug mafia. "I have come among my brothers and sisters of Patparganj after 17 months. They (BJP) tried to keep me in jail somehow in fake cases till Delhi Assembly polls. But due to the blessings of Bajrangbali and Ram ji, their conspiracies failed," Sisodia said addressing a gathering of people. He said AAP convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal too will be out of prison. People greeted Sisodia with garlands and some women also tied 'rakhi' to him. Alliance with Cong to be discussed after Kejriwal is out of jail: Sisodia

The question of an alliance of the Aam Aadmi Party with the Congress for the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls will be decided after Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal walks out of the prison, senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia said. In an interaction with the editors of PTI at its headquarters, Sisodia said the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), of which the AAP is a part, played a "very big role" in restricting the BJP to below the majority mark in the recent Lok Sabha polls. However, assembly polls are a different occasion, he added. The talks about alliance are discussed around the polls, he said, and added, "Arvind Kejriwal is still inside (the jail). I believe he will be out soon and these questions will perhaps be asked again and answered then." The former Delhi deputy chief minister said the possibility of the AAP's alliance with the Congress in Haryana will also be discussed once Kejriwal comes out of the jail. Sunita Kejriwal's political role could end after CM out of jail: Sisodia

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita has played an "awesome" role in communicating her jailed husband's fighting spirit to people, senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia has said, indicating her political role could end once the party supremo comes out of the Tihar Jail. After Kejriwal's arrest on March 21 in connection with an excise policy case, Sunita has served as a bridge between him and the party, and also played a crucial role in the AAP's campaigning for the Lok Sabha polls in Delhi, Gujarat and Haryana. In an interaction with PTI editors at the news agency's headquarters here, Sisodia also laughed away initial media speculations that Sunita Kejriwal would assume the role of chief minister. Sisodia was also arrested in connection with the excise policy case on February 26 last year. He walked out of the Tihar Jail after being granted bail by the Supreme Court last week. Elected min should hoist tricolour, politics over it unfortunate: Sisodia

Amid a controversy over who hoists the flag at the Delhi government's Independence Day ceremony here, senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia Tuesday assailed Lt Governor V K Saxena, saying there should be no problem with an elected minister doing it. The Delhi government's General Administration Department (GAD) has refused to comply with its minister Gopal Rai's direction to make arrangements for Education Minister Atishi to hoist the national flag as per a letter by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to the LG. However, the LG office has maintained that no letter from Kejriwal, who is in judicial custody, has been received. Tihar jail authorities have said the CM's letter was not sent to the LG because it was not permitted according to prison rules. Sisodia said it is "very unfortunate" that "such petty politics" is being done on the auspicious occasion of Independence Day. "I read in the papers that when a conman Sukesh writes letter, the Tihar administration duly submits it to the LG ...

AAP leader Manish Sisodia on Saturday called upon party workers and people to fight against "tyranny" in the country and said if all opposition parties stand united against "dictatorship", Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will come out of prison within 24 hours. Addressing AAP workers at the party headquarters here a day after his release from Tihar jail on bail, he said party workers need to start working hard immediately to ensure the BJP loses the Assembly polls in Haryana, Delhi and elsewhere. People have to fight against 'dictatorship' in country, says Sisodia

Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia on Saturday called upon party workers and people to fight against the "dictatorship" in the country, a day after he was released from jail in the Delhi excise policy case. Targeting the BJP, he also said these people are not more powerful than the Constitution. Every person has to fight against this "dictatorship" which is not just putting leaders in jail but also harassing citizens, Sisodia said while addressing Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers at its headquarters here. He claimed that while in jail, he was not worried about getting bail but was pained seeing businessmen being put in prison in "fake cases just because they did not donate money to the BJP". The Supreme Court on Friday gave Sisodia bail in corruption and money laundering cases linked to the alleged excise policy "scam" and said his long incarceration of 17 months without trial had deprived him of the right to speedy justice.
