Akasa Air to cancel 4 Mumbai-Bengaluru flights daily from Feb 15-Mar 30

Akasa Air on Tuesday said it will be cancelling four flights daily between the city and Bengaluru following government guidelines issued to reduce congestion at the Mumbai airport. The civil aviation ministry has asked Mumbai airport operator MIAL to cut the number of scheduled flights and also restrict private jet operations for longer hours, according to reports. In a statement, an Akasa Air spokesperson said it will be rationalising network with respect to flights operated from Mumbai. "Flight operations of airlines to/from Mumbai are expected to be impacted with guidelines being implemented to reduce runway congestion at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai. "... we have to rationalise our network resulting in cancellation of flights QP 1374 & QP 1367 (Mumbai to Bengaluru) and QP 1362 & QP 1366 (Bengaluru to Mumbai) between February 15 to March 30," the statement said. The airline is communicating to the passengers about the flight cancellations and is giving .

NITI Aayog plans economic transformation of 4 cities, including Mumbai

The NITI Aayog has prepared a plan for economic transformation of Mumbai, Surat, Varanasi and Vizag and help India become a developed economy by 2047, its CEO BVR Subrahmanyam said on Saturday. He also said the Aayog plans to prepare economic planning of 20-25 more cities, as they are the centre of economic activities. A vision document is being prepared by NITI Aayog for India to become a developed economy of USD 30 trillion by 2047, and it will be released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BMC unveils highest ever Budget at Rs 59,954 cr with focus on health, infra

No new taxes were proposed on Friday in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's Rs 59,954.75-crore budget for 2024-25, the highest ever, as it made special provisions for the coastal road project and proposed four new schemes, one of them for providing medicines free to patients at civic hospitals for which Rs 1,200 crore was set aside. The expenditure on the health budget was hiked to Rs 7,191 crore from Rs 6,309 crore in 2023-24 and a provision of Rs 340 crore was made for upgradation of footpaths, lanes and bylanes. A sum of Rs 100 crore was allocated for implementation of a scheme for women's security. The budgetary estimates were 10.5 per cent more than the 2023-24 amount of Rs 54,256.07 crore. Three Indian markets in three cities, including one in New Delhi, and three online markets have figured in the annual notorious market list of the US Trade Representatives released Tuesday, in which China continues on the number one spot. The 2023 Notorious Markets List identifies 39 online markets and 33 physical markets that are reported to engage in or facilitate substantial trademark counterfeiting or copyright piracy. Keystone Realtors Q3 results: Net profit jumps 5-fold to Rs 30 crore

Keystone Realtors on Tuesday reported a five-fold jump in consolidated net profit at Rs 29.88 crore for the quarter ended December 2023 on higher income. Its net profit stood at Rs 5.82 crore in the year-ago period. Mumbai-based Keystone Realtors, which markets its properties under 'Rustomjee' brand, posted a significant growth in total income at Rs 533.33 crore during October-December FY24 as against Rs 135.55 crore in the year-ago period, according to a regulatory filing. Mumbai Marathon: 74-year-old participant among two dead; 22 hospitalised

Two participants, including a 74-year-old man, collapsed and died during the annual TATA Mumbai Marathon, which was held here on Sunday, a police official said. According to the police official, 22 persons who took part in the running event were hospitalised for dehydration and other reasons. The deceased participants were identified as Suvradeep Banerjee (40) from Kolkata and Rajendra Bora (74) from Mumbai. Banerjee, a seasoned full marathoner and software engineer, collapsed near the Haji Ali Junction, while Bora slumped to the road near a petrol pump close to a popular pizza joint opposite Marine Drive, the official added.

Dharavi residents to get 350 sq ft flats after redevelopment: Adani Group

The Adani group on Monday said it will offer eligible residents of the Dharavi slum clusters new flats measuring 350 sq ft. The Adani group, which is redeveloping Dharavi slums in collaboration with the Maharashtra government, claimed the flat size was "17 per cent more" than what is offered as part of slum redevelopment projects. The new flats will have a kitchen and toilet, Adani said in a statement, adding that earlier, the dwellers of informal settlements were given houses measuring 269 sq ft. Since 2018, the state government started giving them homes measuring 315-322 sq ft. The redeveloped area will also have community halls, recreational areas, public gardens, dispensaries and daycare centres for children. January 1, 2000 has been decided as the cut-off date to determine eligible residents. Fire in duct of high rise in Dombivali, doused; no report of injuries

A fire broke out in the duct of a high rise in Dombivali in Thane district on Saturday, though no one was injured in the incident, a civic official said. The blaze in the 18-storey building with 108 flats in Khoni village started at 1:30pm and was doused an hour later after two fire engines were deployed, Thane Municipal Corporation regional disaster management cell chief Yasin Tadvi told PTI. "The fire started in the duct and spread from the ground floor to the top floor. Plastic fitments were gutted. No one was injured in the incident. The cause of the fire is being probed," Tadvi said. Other officials said people staying in the high rise managed to come down safely amid the fire, which was confined to one side of the structure.
